As charity trustees<br>they are responsible for complying with legislation<br>applicable to charities. This includes the registration,<br>keeping proper accounts and making returns to the<br>Charity Commission as appropriate.<br>The Trustee Board consists of the GLV (the GLV is an ex-<br>officio member of the Board of Trustees), Chair,<br>Treasurer, and other Trustees. Following the stepping<br>down of Mark Little as Group Lead Volunteer (GLV), Ian<br>Fletcher took on the role of GLV and acting Chair. A<br>replacement for the position of Chair is being sought.<br>The Trustees meet at least once per term.<br>Members of the Trustee Board complete Being a Scouts<br>Trustee learning within the first 6 months of joining the<br>Board.<br>This Group Trustee Board exists to make sure the charity<br>is well-managed, risks are assessed and mitigated,<br>buildings and equipment are in good working order, and<br>everyone follows legal requirements and the<br>organisation's policies and rules. Their support helps other<br>volunteers run high-quality and safe programmes that<br>gives young people skills for life."<br>**Risk and Internal Control**<br>The Group Trustee Board has identified the major risks to<br>which they believe the Group is exposed, these have been<br>reviewed and systems have been established to mitigate<br>against them.|

## **Section E Financial Review** 

Brief statement of the charity’s **Reserves Policy** policy on reserves The Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable activities of the group should income and fundraising activities fall short. The Group Trustee Board considers that the group should hold a sum equivalent to 12 months running costs. The Group held reserves of £30,720.19 against this at year end. This is above the level required for operating expenses. However this additional reserve is held for future investment in the HQ buildings and facilities - for example building maintenance or car park refurbishment. A new<br>Chair of Trustees is being sought.<br>The Board of Trustees notes the sad passing of Colin<br>Tappenden in Dec 2024. Colin was a dedicated member<br>of the Scouting community in Sandwich and the wider<br>District and did so much for the young people of the<br>area. He will be missed.||
