Chairs report – Steph Jupe
As always, the bookings have been steady with peaks and troughs in all the usual places. There have been new regulars and we have bid farewell to old ones but the Hall remains popular with everyone from baby sensory groups and birthday parties to ball room and folk dancers.
The preschool and the coffee morning remain as stalwarts to be enjoyed week in, week out and we hope will continue to supply the village with what I consider to be essential services.
There have been highlights throughout the year and of course low points and I would like to mention the passing of David Greenman. Much loved and appreciated, we hope you rests in peace.
Thank you needs to go to Anne Clifford, my predecessor. After tirelessly working for the village hall for years, she deserves a rest. I hope I will continue the good work that she and all my predecessors carried out.
More thank you to the rest of the committee for their immense efforts as well this year. It may feel like it isn’t appreciated sometimes but I promise it does not go unnoticed. I speak as a relative newcomer so trust me when I say that at the village fair every year, there is that sense of familiarity and home that I have not personally experienced elsewhere. I know from talking to people that this is felt throughout all the events that are put on here. The Village Hall committee are what makes this and that is you all so thank you.
Also, thank you all for your warm welcome. I personally would not want to join you all if I did not believe you cared about what you do I mentioned above that it really is obvious how hard you all work. I care a lot and wanted to help, your help to me so far is invaluable.

’ – - Treasurer s Annual report Financial year 01/10/24 30/09/25
Despite our lower income and higher out-goings when compared to last year, the hall is financially secure. Gas and electricity prices having remained relatively stable over the past year. The use of the Hive Heating Regulation System and low use over the summer have been of benefit. However, costs of water supply and sewage charges have risen steeply. Our usage earlier in the year was not helped by old/worn out toilet cisterns, that were constantly trickling water and ultimately cost us over £1000 in wasted water, before they were all replaced.
Because action was taken in January 2023, to mitigate our increased outgoings, I do not foresee any imminent or medium-term issues with our finances, operating at our current and projected levels of demand for use of the hall. Our regular and private hirers income continues to cover our outgoings, with spare funds for any emergency repairs. With the enormous effort of our fund-raising team and donations from the museum, our Phase 2 extension funds have been boosted to £90,000.
I believe we remain competitive with our hire charges and facilities available. In these uncertain times, it is imperative we remain accessible and affordable to hall users. To be otherwise, will be counter-productive to providing a thriving social hub for the community.
