## **Chair’s Report March 2026**

## **General**

I am pleased to be able to report another successful year for the HWMH.

This success is due to several factors, including:

The hard work of our team of volunteers, including the Committee and other ‘friends’ of the hall, who give their time willingly.

The local community who support our events.

Our Cleaner and Caretaker who take care of the hall and our clients.

## **Bookings**

There were 867 bookings for the period July to December 2025 compared with 894 for the same period the previous year. The number of hours the hall was in use for these bookings were similar at approximately 2,700 hours.

## **Events and celebrations included:**

Assistance with the annual Scarecrow event in September.

Music night in January 2026 which raised nearly £1,000 for the hall coffers. Bingo and Race nights.

The Beatniks music night.

## **Hall Refurbishment 2025/26**

The thermostat control system for the main heating system is now fully functional, allowing remote control of the hall temperature to suit our client’s needs.

The installation of a new electric hot water system which feeds the washbasins in the toilets at the front of the hall has been completed. The cost of the system was £2,200, but thanks to a grant from EHDC to assist Village Halls in reducing their carbon footprint, we were able to claim all this cost back.

The new online bookings system is working well, enabling potential hirers to book events independently without having to contact the booking secretary. It also allows live access to the hall calendar for availability. Billing has also been simplified.

The installation of a ramp from the PC car park to the rear hall door has also been completed. This allows those with limited mobility to more easily access the Committee Room and the Post Office.

Several carpet tiles were replaced in the Committee room, following spillages of coffee etc. The client responsible has now moved their weekly event to the main hall.

Refurbishment projects for 2026: Replace facia boards at the front of the hall. Tarmac hall car park. (May be too expensive)

## **Finances**

Our financial position at the end of 2025 was ( _2024 in italics_ ):

Current Account £974 _£1,036_ Deposit account £9,022 _£4,013_ Petty Cash £72 _£144_

## **Conclusions**

None of the above could have been achieved without the continuing support of the Hall Committee. I thank you all for your time, dedication and assistance.

I look forward to working with you all during 2026.

Chris Poole (Chair HWMH Committee)
