28[th] ODIHAM (DOGMERSFIELD & CRONDALL) SCOUT GROUP Registered Charity No 302221
Report of the Trustees 2023
This was another very busy year for the Scout Group. As can be seen in the Annual Accounts, the Group has continued to invest significantly in activities for our members, going above and beyond the previous year. We are delighted to be able to continue to host two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs and a Scout Troop. Our youth members in the various sections of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have very much enjoyed going on camps and a wide range of other outdoor activities in pursuit of their Challenge Awards and Activity Badges throughout the year.
This year the Trustees decided to use some of our reserves to invest in a range of new equipment for our adventurous activities, including a new Archery Range and tents/camping equipment for the Nights Away. This means we are very well set up for the future. In addition, some work was done to refurbish our premises to ensure it is safe and comfortable for its ongoing use.
Our hard-working volunteers have undergone training and gained the necessary permits to be able to offer rifle-shooting and archery as well as run a full programme of Scouting activities over four evenings each week during term-time and several weekend events, including the Parades which are observed by and enjoyed by many local residents.
Despite the challenging economic times we live in, we are pleased to confirm that the Group is still well-placed to continue to offer an excellent programme of events for its members in future years. Whilst we have reduced the level of reserves during this financial year, we continue to hold reserves should they be needed for future projects, whether planned or unexpected.
