8eavers AGM Report 2025
July 2024- july 2025
A busy year again with lots of Beavers doing lots of activities. Some thing5 that we have done this
year include navigation, planting vegetables. litter picking in the play park. cooking. experiments and
our really popular Motherfs Day cafe.
We took the Beavers off site a few time5 this year to EO litter pickin& bowling, a visit to a fire station
and to Woodhouse Park to go climbing.
We have consistently seen that some Beavers find staying away from home too much and cannot
join the group on camps. We work hard to make these experiences as inclusive as possible so this
year we decided to run a day camp. doing a lot of artivities they would on camp but without the
overnighi. This was really popijlar and we hope would have given the Beavers confidence to join
camps in the future. A few of the Beavers were able to join the cubs on 3 sleepover at Legoland and
had è wonderfyl time.
Beavers also attended the Remembrance Parade in November. smartly turning up in uniform and we
marched to the Legion. proudly flying our colonWs flags.
Over the last year, we have awarded 230 badges. 10 Bronze awards have also been 3warded!
Towards the end of the year, Katie decided that she would like to move on to be a leader in the
second Scout troop rhar will be opening in September. Although we are very sad to see her go. we
have been extremely lucky to have her as a leadèr and would like to take this opportunity to thank
her for everything She has put in to run Beavers. She has agreed to be an occasional helper 50 we
hope she can still join us periodically. From September. we will have Will. one of otjr young leaders
join us as a full leadèr and we are workn'ng on getting another leader in by the end of the summer 50
watch thi5 space.
We rely on parent help quite a bit and are really grateful io those that do come to support us as
without them we could not run the programme that we do. We are an active colony with 3 number
of Beavers with specific needs so we are continually open to more parents and adults who feel they
would also like to help us.
Looking forward to another great year ahead
Brian, Jame5. Will & Katie

It's been a busy year for the Wednesday cubs. none of which would have been possible without
such a great leaders to work alongside. Thanks to Hannah. Lexie, Stan & Penny for the n'me
they've given to cubs. Thanks to Lee for every time. he's come along to spend the weekend with
us on camp. Sadly, we've said goodbye to Penny recently, she'll certainly be missed by everyone.
We've spent 15 nights away, including a sleepover at Legoland, taking 2 teams to Evolution,
summer camp at Woodhouse & a hammock camp at Centenary Wood.
We love being outside, in all weathers. Recently our cubs been on a visit to the fire statr"on,
sailing & kayaking, 3$ well as joint evenings with Tuesday cubs at Chelwood. By far the favourite
IS the Stockwood photo race, when the sixes have an hour to take photos to gain as many points
as possible. Luckily most bus drivers are willing to wear a 148 necker for a few extra points!
The cubs have worked really hard towards their badges. 6 of them achieving their silver award,
the rest earning nearly 250 badges between them.
As a really busy cub pack, it can be loud & chaoric, but slowly we're building on self-reliance.
responsibility & teamwork. The cubs are starting to work well together. their 5ixers & seconders
gaining in confidence & supporting those who need help.
Next year will see a big change as both packs merge, bringing new challenges & adventures.
Whatever the year has to offer, whatever activities or camps we plan. as leaders we know the
cubs will give it a go & have the best time doing it, as will we!

Tuesdaycubs
Another busy year lor Tuesday cubsl
Tuesday cubs had a busy and varied year, aehievrng nearly 100 badges. We've tried to keep the
programme varied and busy, from outdoor adventurous activities such as kayaking, SUP and
archery to exploring the local area. making ice cream and having many different visitors.
Taking a view as to the future otthe Group as a whole. the decision was made to reduce cubs
down to one pack. With the majority preferring a Wednesday. Tuesday cubs had their last
session in July, ending with a water fight in the rainl
Thank you to everyone who has helped Tuesday cubs be successful over the last few years, 811
the help and support has been appreciated both by the leaders at the time. but mostly the cubs
that have benefitted from such a wide range of activities and had such valuable experiences.

Scout Report
This year has been a busy and exciting one for our Scouts. filled with a variety of events at
the hut and several memorable camps.
We began the year with kayaking. which helped build the Scouts, confidence on the water.
This was followed by a survival camp at Centenary Woods, where the Scouts slept in
hammocks, cooked their own meals, and were laughl essential survival skills by the Senior
Patrol Leaders. These included using fire strikers and leaming how to light fires wilhoul any
pre*made malerials.
As a team-building activity, we organised a bowfing night to help the Scouts gel lo know
each other better. We also held a sleepover at the hut for Remembran￿ Day. which was a
meaningful occasion for reflection and togetheme5S.
To raise money for our surnmer camp. the Scouts took parl in a successful car wash
fundraiser. In preparation for upcoming camps. we ran a bag-packing session lo help ScoLJts
understand what they would need lo bring. More experienced Scouts shared tips and advice
with the newer members.
One of the most impactful activities thi5 year was our involvement in Operation Christmas
Hamper. This gave the Scouts a valuable life lesson in compassion and community. as they
assembled hampers for people in need_ 11 was a powerfijl way for Ihem lo understand how
fortunate they are to have a home and family to retum lo.
For Halloween. we hosted a movie night at the hut. It was a fvn evening for the Scouts and
also raised funds for future activities. The entire group got involved, and it was heartening to
see everyone working together.
We also had a fantaslic session al Ninja Warrior UK. which once again provided an excellent
opportunity for team-building in a fun and challenging environment.
As part of our annual traditions, we ran our Christmas Tree Oelivery fundraiser, where
people ordered trees and the Scouts delivered them lo their hornes. This not only helped
raise funds bul also increased awareness and support for our group in the local community.
Later in the year, we returned lo survival skills with another camp that the Scouts thoroughly
enjoyed. They learned practical outdoor techniques that will setve them well in future
adventures.
Our hike across Cheddar Gorge was a particular highlight. The Scouts trekked across the
gorge and look in all the spectacular cliffside views.
In contrast lo our land-based activilies. we also arranged a Scuba Diving taster sess¢on.
which gave the Scouts a glimpse into what it might be like to pursue diving as a future hobby
or Gareer.

The Avon Shoots'ng Competition was another big event. bringing together Scout groups fro
across the area to compete in crossbow, archery, air rifle. and similar disciplines.11 was a
fantastic opportunity lo test their skills and represent our group.
Finally, we attended the Kemow Jamboree. This camp focused on team-building, with
activities such as "Way of the Woods". where Scouts had to woth together to construct
shelters and light fires. It significantly improved relationships within the Iroop, which was one
of the camp's key aims. This was the highlight of the year results.ng in one of the best camps
ever.
None of this would have been possible wilhoul the dedication and effort of our amazing
Scout Leaders. Their enthusiasm, organisation, and support have made all these
experiences possible-and we are truly graleftjl for everything they do.
