Chair’s report April 2023 to March 2024 Nicky Shergold, Chair 11 September 2023 report to the AGM

The works required after the 2022 flood had been completed, covered by insurance. This involved redecoration of the Lounge Bar, kitchen and inner hall; the improvement and insulation of the pipework above the lounge and kitchen. The oak floor in the Main Hall was completely replaced. Whilst the building work was underway we had improved access to the loft storage area, improving its utility. An unexpected benefit is improved heat retention within the entrance lobby and loos. Redecoration of the entrance lobby was done to create a warmer welcome to the hall, giving it a less utilitarian entrance.

Bill Nesbitt undertook a Condition Survey of the Hall which will enable us to forward plan maintenance and general upkeep of the Hall. This will be used to develop the financial plan so that we can anticipate when works will be required over the next 10 years.

Regular hirers have remained steady with the addition of the very successful ‘Move It and Lose It’!

From April 2023 the Social Committee has been incorporated into the Trust. It has been a successful year for the committee and the events organised now contribute to the Hall’s future financial viability.

We have opened “the Friday Lounge” as a new initiative. It has been very successful and provides another opportunity to bring members of our community together on a casual basis.

I am also announcing that I am stepping down as Chair. I am confident that the Trust is in good financial order and has a committed group of Trustees who continue to work hard in all aspects of the Trust.

As well as thanking the Trustees it is important to recognise and thank the numerous volunteers who support the Trust in too many ways to list.
