THE FRIENDS OF BATHURST POOL

The 2023 season was not one of our better ones. The very poor weather, especially throughout August, when there were more bad days than good,resulted in a considerable drop in numbers attending.

We completed three major improvements which will be outlined in the treasurer’s report and new projects for this year include a disabled access lift and baby changing facilities.

The cost of the chemicals is constantly increasing and the new price for this season is £297 for a 25 kilo drum. In very hot weather one drum lasts for two days so the worst scenario is a total of 70 drums for the season. This equates to approximately £22.000.

During the season we lost two trustees but we welcomed four new ones bringing the number in total to eighteen. They have all taken their role seriously and along with all existing trustees have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running and safety of our pool.

Swim Club will begin on 1[st] May and run until the second week in September. The 7.00 start will now take place on both Thursday and Friday every week, subject to trustee availability.

After too many disasters we finally have hot water in the toilets to comply with health and safety regulations. There is still work to be done in the toilet block and we hope to complete this in the next couple of weeks.

The end of season party at Speech House was a very enjoyable occasion and the same venue has been booked for this year but there will be a change in the entertainment as we know that it was not to everyone’s taste.
