The last two years have been very challenging for the trustees of Bathurst Pool but despite the strict covid restrictions we have managed to provide a very safe environment for our swim club members. In 2020 swimmers were restricted to only five in the pool at any one time and we operated a booking system of one hour slots throughout the season. It proved very successful under the circumstances and members were appreciative of our efforts to keep everyone safe with constant cleansing of tables, providing anti-bacterial hand gel throughout the site and disinfecting the changing zones between each group of people. The shop remained closed to encourage swimmers to leave as soon as their time was up and many came and left in their swimwear.
Moving on to 2021 things had improved slightly at the beginning of the season when we were allowed ten swimmers in at one time with the same restrictions in place. The swim club operated daily between 10.00 and 12.00 and also 17.00 - 19.00 and when membership reached 250 it was closed to any new swimmers. The same will apply in 2022.
When the government lifted the restrictions in July we then opened to the public and enjoyed seven weeks of normal opening with 4525 children and 2685 adults through the gate
Major renovations have taken place in the past year starting with the removal of the old liner and the installation of the new one after which the pool was filled in readiness to start welcoming swimmers. Unfortunately there was a serious problem with the pump and it was discovered that this was caused by the breakdown of the ancient gate valve and non return valve which were both encased in concrete. These had to be dug out from the cavern underneath the pool where they were situated, an arduous task by two of our trustees, and then all the new pipe work had to be fitted. We are indebted to local companies, and one from Manchester that came to our aid, all free of charge, who worked tirelessly to overcome the problem and after several set backs eventually got everything working.
From that point on everything was good and we had another great season at Bathurst Pool.

Res ective res onsibilities of trustees and examiner As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. you consider that the audit requirement of section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 does not apply and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 act, and to state, on the basis of procedures specified in the general directions given by the charity commissioners under section 145 (5)(b) of the 2011 act, whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basis of inde endent examinerfs re ort My examination was carried out in accordance with the general directions given by charity commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
