Chairnian's Report OD Lt Clacton Village Hall & Harold Lilley Playing Field
Trust for the AGM on 19° March 2025
Thank you for attending this meeting. The Committee and I really appreciate your continued
suppor¢ with the Village Hall being used virtually to capacity and enjoyed by all of the
organisations and by the residents.
My sincere thanks to everyone who contributes to the smooth running of the Village Hall including
the Committee. I would thank most sincerely Dave (Birch) and Chris (Amor) who havc helped in
many ways with the various jobs whRch crop up and have needed dealing with and also thanks to
Lynn for continued help with keeping the building clean and tidy. Also, Mavis who continues in the
roles of Secretary and Treasurer and is supwrting Dan and Liz (Land) with the booking side which
is now operating very successfully online. thanks to Dan and LIL
Over the year money h&s I￿en raised for the Village Hall with two Barn Dances and raffle and
many thanks to the Conllnittee who assisted at these functions. .
Thank you John (Cutting), Little Clacton Parish Chainnan, for help and SUp￿rt over another year
and also for the Parish Council's financial SUPPK)rt for hedge cutting as well as kindly granting a
donation towards the work that was carried out to address a major damp problenL
We recently had a plaque installed on the John Dunnett Memorial Green celebrdting paralympian
Ellie Challis who lived in Little Clacton for most of her very young life. Ellie won gold in the 2024
Paris Paralympic Games in a British record in the women's S3 50m backstroke. She also won S3
silver in the 50m backstroke at Tok)'0 2020 al just 17 years old.
We have recently had a Christmas tree Inst￿led in the front of the Village Hall, in remembrance of
Malcolm Joyce who assisled the Committee whenever his help was required. and this tree was
kindly donated by Bentley Landscapes. At Christhias time the tree was decorated with lights and
decorations which were kindly installed by Alistair Mitchell who is on the Parish Council.
The Contract works have now been completed to eradicate the damp problems in the Snooker
Room including removing existing ramp and re-concreting, replacing of flooring and joists as
required and installing air vents to improve the air flow. A dehumidifier was used for a period to
dry oul arw. Skirting and dado rail were refitted and the outside wall was sealed and the inside
wall repainted as it was badly stained as a result of water damage .
The children's play area is well used and we have had the equipment repainted with a grant from
Section 106 monies. Luckily. there has been no vandalism on the play area over ihe last year so
that has got to be a good thing and hopefutly the young people are learning to respect what they
have available in the Village.
I would like to close by confinning I really do appreciate all your supEx>rt and would be happy to
continue as your Chairman for another year, if there are no other nominations for the post. We do
continue io look for additional volunteers to help Thith the work load so. if you would enjoy the
Ghailengc. why not take up a role as a Committc¢ meTntKr.
Looking forward to another successful year.
