Chairnian's Report on Lt ClactOD Village Hall & Harold Lilley Playing Field
Trust for the AGM on 20" March 2024
Thank you for attending this meeling and we reallv appreciate your continued support. ￿ryth ihe
Village Hall being used virtually to capacity and enjoved by all of the organisations and by the
residents.
My sincere thanks to everyone who contribules to the smooth running of the Village Hall including
the Committee. I would thank ReErtca who continues to book the Hall for events, income from
which helps to pay for the upkeep. also thanks to Lynn for your continued h¢lp with keeping the
building cl¢an and lidy and to David who h&8 been stepping in to help me in my capacitj of
Caretsker. Mavis still continues to carr), out the roles of Secretary and Tr￿asurer but a Committee
member has offered to tske over this role and details are being discussed at present.
We continue to tniss John (Dunneil) who we lost in November 2022 and who contribuled so much
over many, many years and is sorely missed by us all. John was a mine of inforniation and gave of
his valuable time lo help throughout ihe Village whenever and wherever he Could. A seat in memory
of John has ken provided by Liiile Clacton Parish Council and installed on what is now known as
th¢ John Dunnett Memorial Garden on the small green. The Commill¢e attended a small dedication
service, together with Bronwyn Dunnett and h¢r family al￿ Parish Council Members.
Over the year money h&8 t*en raised for the Village Hall by Aum Yoga with an cnjoyable
demonstration on the Playing Field. Also, a Barn Dance a rdffle and also a Christmas Raffle
have raised funds. The monies raised wenl towards new curtains throughout the Villagic Hall and
therefore thanks must go io Praji (Aum Yoga). and Liz for arranging the Barn Dance and Christmas
Raffle. Also thanks lo all the Committee who assisted at these functions.
The beacons each side of the zebra Crossing were instslled soon after the last AGM and the crossing
is being well us¢d and reduLing the sp¢¢d of the traffic along the ￿retch of London Road.
I would like to thank John (Cutling). the Little Claclon Parish Chaimian. for his help and support
over another vear and a150 lor the Parish Council's financial support for hedge cutting. The MUCIA
faLilily al Plough Corner has a great success and is king regularly used.
W¢ understand that the Parish Council would lik¢ lo hold another event similar lo the King's
Coronation event and further infonnation on this will be made available in due course.
The children's play area is ￿'ClI used and we have aTranged for a painler to re-paini all Ihe
equipment when the weather improves. Luckily. there has been no vandalism on the play area over
the last year so that has gol lo be a go(MJ thing and hopelully the young people are learning lo
respect whai ihey have available in the Village.
I would like to Clo￿ by confimiing I really do appreciale all your supwrt and. together with
members of the Commitl¢¢, continue lo look for addilional volunteers lo help with the work load. It
is very satisfying but it would be nice to see fresh people taking up the roles and enjoying ihe
chall¢nges that it offers.
Looking forward io another successful year.
