Summary
ofthe main
achievements
ofthe charity
during the year
The sports grounds
continue
to be occupied
by Harlow Cricket Club
playing
cricket. The club gives a lot of time and effort into training
youngsters
of both sexes and has many who turn
up for summer
evening
practice. The club has two grounds
at Harlow and runs five Saturday
teams, one Sunday teams and Colts of under 16's, 15's, 13's, 11's 10's
and 9's and allows the second wicket on Spicers Field to be used by
Netteswell
and Burnt
Mill Cricket Club on Sundays.
Owing to the pandemic
the Club's activities were considerably
curtailed
during
the last season.
Itwas therefore
decided to waive rent for the
year.
Spicers Field is still the 2" cricket ground
with a designated
children' s
play area on the western
boundary.
The new cricket pavilion
has allowed
the Cricket Club to let it for various
functions
providing
increased
income for the Club.
The Harlow
Bowling Club occupies a corner of Maiigolds
Field with both
men's and women's
teams having
their share ofsuccess. The bowling
rink especially
and the rest ofthe area are in extremely
good condition.
Again, the Club's activities were severely
curtained
last season.
The Forebury continues as open space for general
recreational
use for
children
and dog walkers etc.
Essex County Council continue
to use the Fire Station with a 10year
lease dated 1"August 2014.
The negotiations
for the new footpath across The Forebury are complete
with the money
having
being invested. The footpath
Icycle track is now
complete
with just the reinstatement
of disturbed
grass. The transfer of
extra land requested
is still to be legalised.
The Trust has at last persuaded
the local Council to allow the lopping of
the very high trees along its Eastern
Border. This means they are
committed
to an expenditure
ofover 210k.The Trust has been
concerned
about these trees for a number
ofyears, feeling a strong
south Westerly gale could cause them to do damage to the boundary
wall
and roadway.
An application
was turned
down approximately
five years
ago.
The Trust considers the land and buildings
thereon
to be in a good and
satisfactory state.
