In SUMM￿ I feel that we have had a very successful year with, dare I say it, no
terrible problems or massive expenses. The Hall continues to be used a great
deal particularly by The Barn preschool who are considering using our
Tuesdays as well.
We are particularly lucky to have such a wonderful and active drama group,
who use the stsge to very great advantage as they perforn] three plays per year.
We are also fortunate that our evening users continue throughout the year, that is
Zumba, Shanty Singing, Yoga and during the winter months Keep Fit. We have
several private parties and charitable events, such as Bingo and Wll]e tasting for
the Churcty at the weekends.
This year, the Hall will play its usual, very important role during the four days
of the Village Festival.
We have had a successful folk music concerL but sadly, the elopement paty
mentioned in last year's minutes was cancelled as the relationship had

We have replaced the side door with a very smart metal door, which cost over
£2000. We have also re-laid the concrete area by the dustbins, as that was
cracking up very badly. The drain in that area had started to collapse which was
not surprising as there was found to be an old well next to it with a hole about
1.5 m in diameter. Some of the fence on the car park side of the front area has
become very rotten and we have been lucky to have some new pickets made and

provided for us by the community shed in Halstead for a token charitable gift.
Once agai￿ I would like to thank Lucy Orrow for organising another very
successful Cl]ristmas shopping event last November, which raised over £600 for
the Hall.
Unfortunately, we have lost our secretary because of health problems and an
increase in her worL and as yet we have not been able to replace her. We also
are going to lose the excellent cleaner, Kelly, at the end of July We are on the
lookout for both a new cleaner and a new secretary.
I was very keen to see if we could move our financial accounting package to
QuickBooks, which would hopefully save an almighty amount of time for our
treasurer when it came to end of year accounts. We have done this, and with our
Accountant's help, we are about to close our first years accounts. Although it
has been difficult to learn how to use QuickBooks both our treasurer and I think
it is an improvement.
However, I have struggled somewhat with the Lemonbooking system. The idea
was that I would be able to do invoices for each user, either as they booked for a
one-off event or easily month by month. I have coped with the invoice side, but

l am not happy about the ability of Lemonbooking to pick up which invoices
have been paid by QuickBooks. I am still in communication with
Lemonbooking.
With regard to our very old and slightly leaky roof, Ron and I decided that we
should be putting money aside in a designated account for the roof and he will
confwm that we now have £10,000 in there.
