Boxted Village Hall Registered Charity number 301258
Trustees Annual Report 1 August 2023 – 31 July 2024
Boxted Village Hall is a charity which aims to maintain and operate a space for community events held in Boxted, Colchester. It receives most of its income from letting fees and expends money on maintaining, running and operating the hall safely and legally. The sole Charity Trustee is Boxted Parish Council. The sole Trustee considers that the activities of the charity meet the public benefit test.
Boxted Village Hall caters for people of all ages, hosting a wide variety of meetings for local clubs and organisations, and hire for private parties. Our bookings, and more general, support from the Community Halls in Partnership Charity is working well and we express our thanks for their friendly and professional service. We are also grateful to the drama group for their annual pantomime donation.
Hall hire increased to £22,749 (2022/23 £19,467) and the cost of providing these charitable activities increased to £18,627 (2022/23 £16,508). New equipment and upgrades to the hall this year totalled £4,873 (2022/23 £zero) including a new path and planters, hand dryer and new stage curtains.
The accounts show a surplus of £1,510 (2022/23 £4,933). Free reserves of £73,951 are held at the year-end, which is sufficient to cover approximately four years of regular operating costs. The sole trustee is confident that the hall trading income will be sufficient to cover hall operating costs in future years, as well as generating surpluses that will enable continued enhancements to the hall. The trustee is also confident that the Hall is in good repair with all the required health and safety inspections being carried out.
The sole trustee is confident that the aims of the Charity are being met and that the Charity is well placed to continue.
