members of which are the 'Charily Trustees. of the Scout
Group whi¢h is an educational charity. As charity trustees
they are responsible for cornplying with legislation
applicable to charilles. This Includes the registration,
keeping proper accounts and makin9 returns lo the Charity
Commission as appropriate.

and equipment are in good working order, and everyone
follows legal requiremtsnls and the organisalion's policies
and iules. Their support helps other volunteers rLJn high-
quality and safe programmes that gives young people skills

Risk and Intemal Control
The group has in place systems of internal Conlrols that are
designad lo provide reasonablè assurance against material
mismanagernenl or10$5, these include 2 signatories foi all
payments and a comprehensive insurance policies lo
ensure that insurable risks are covered.
Injury to leaders, helpers, supporters and members. The
Gr()up through the capilalion fees Contributes to the Scout
Associations national accident insurance policy. Risk
Assessments are undertaken before all a¢livilies.
Reduced income ffom fund raising. The Group is primarily

group does hold a reserve to ensure the conlinuily of
activities should there be a major redu¢tion in income. The
Board could raise the value ol subscriptsons to increase the
inGome to thè group on an ongoing basis, either temporarily
or permanently.
Reduction or loss of leaders. The group is totally reliant
upon volunteers lo run and administer the activities of the
group. If there was a reduction in the number of leaders lo
an unacceptable level in 8 particular seclion or the group as
a whole then there would havè to ba a contraction.

The Group's policy on reservfjs is to hold sufficient
resources to continue the charitable activities of the group
should income and fundraising activities fall short. The
Group Trustee Board ¢onsidtsrs that the groLJP shoLJld hold
a sum eqyivalenl Ic> 24 months running costs, circa £8k.
The Group held reserves of approximately £28k agolnsl this
al year end, This is above the levellbelow required for
operating expenses. However this can be explained by

The Group's Income and Expenditure is very small and as a
¢onsequence does not have sufficient funds to invgst in
longer-lerm investments suGh 38 Stocks and shares. The
Group ha8 Iheiefore adopted a low risk strategy to the
inv&slment of its funds. All funds are held in cash uslng only
mainstream banks or building soclelies.

bank balances and the inlerest rates received to ensure the
group obtains maximum value and income from Ils banking

considers the cash flow requirements.
