**WILLAND VILLAGE HALL - Charity no. 301015 ANNUAL REPORT 2021.22**

Willand Village Hall Committee, correspondence address Mrs Allan, 4, Orchard Way, Willand Old Village, Cullompton, Devon, EX15 2SG, is registered with the Charity Commissioners and constituted by Deed of Trust.

**Chairman:** Mr J Crocker **Booking Secretary:** Mrs F Wilcox **Treasurer:** Mrs C B Allan **Maintenance Manager:** Mr M Hollings **Caretaker:** Mr S Fincher

**Trustees** _**:**_ Mrs C Allan, Mrs D Batchelor, Mr J Crocker, Mr K Grantham, Mrs S Hancock, Mr M Hollings, Mr P Palfrey, Mrs R Parish, Mrs J Simmons and Mrs F Wilcox.

I would like to thank Mrs Annie Hooper, who resigned as a trustee at last year’s AGM, as she was moving away. She was instrumental in getting our Safeguarding Policy up and running.

Organisations using the hall can appoint a representative trustee. Other trustees are appointed at the AGM of the Village Hall. The object of the charity is to provide or assist in the provision for the inhabitants of the Parish of Willand and the immediate neighbourhood facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

****************

As the pandemic continued, we experienced loss of some bookings, but some of our regular users started to operate with reduced numbers and increased hygiene precautions. We did not carry out any major work. We would like to continue our refurbishment programme by refitting the main toilets in the entrance and lowering the ceiling in the kitchen and committee room - hopefully this year. We are also having the outside of the hall painted when the weather gets warmer.

The hall is now back up to its pre-pandemic bookings, with very few days when the hall is not used. We would like to remind everyone that the car park is private, for use of hall patrons only and to allow parents to drop off and pick up children at the beginning and end of the school day. Some of our daytime users have found it difficult to park because of unauthorised use, so please be considerate.

I would like to thank our caretaker, Sam Fincher, for keeping the Hall clean and for doing lots of odd jobs around the building, Frances Wilcox, our Booking Secretary, our Chairman, John Crocker, Michael Hollings, our Maintenance Manager, and all the trustees. We still have vacancies for a few trustees, if anyone is interested in helping this vital community asset. There are only 6 short meetings a year.

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and-a comparison of the accounts presented with those records It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in a an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the-statement below.

In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect

: the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act, or

: the accounts did not accord with the accounting records, or

: the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the charities(accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a "true and fair" view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
