## CHAIRMAN’S REPORT 

1[ST] March 2020 to 28[th] February 2021 

Hall closed Friday 20[th] March due to Government lockdown in England.  Before this happened most of the hall users had cancelled their hall booking. 

Hall insurers notified of closure.  Insurers instructions were to check he hall twice a day. 

Cancelled installation of new windows and cladding on north facing wall. Cancelled grant of £8000 from the garden charities. 

Permission requested £5,000 grant from the Parish Council to be used to help pay for the new roof covering on the annexe and new ceiling lights inside annexe.  Western Flat roofing carried out the work in August. 

Only Blood Transfusion service allowed to use the hall during lockdown. 

AGM cancelled in May 2020 due to hall still being closed. 

May 2020 hall awarded a grant of £10,000 from government due to lockdown. 

Food Bank started using Green Rom in June 2020. 

Hall re-opened 4[th] July 2020. 

First craft market on 9[th] July 2020. 

Lost approx. £8,000 from March 2020 to end of August 202. 

Perranporth Players returned to hall on 26[th] August. 

During lockdown cancelled hall cleaner, window cleaner, grass cutting and my petrol expenses each month saving £200 per month. 

In September only Blood Transfusion service, Martial arts and ballet returned to Hall. 

Hall closed again on Monday 28[th] September 2020. 

Co-op Community fund closed end of October 2020 and we received E£4263 

Another lockdown on Thursday 5[th] Nov. 2020 until 2[nd] Dec. Hall closed again. Hall November meeting cancelled. 

Refund of £600 from EDF. Monthly payments reduced to £45. 

Another grant received from government of £3,000 due to hall being closed in November. 

At the end of November another grant received of £1,338. 

Hall re-opened 2[nd] Dec. 2020. Only a few organisations returned to use the hall. Country Market using the car parking area outside. 

Hall closed again on Dec. 30[th] 2020 due to another lockdown. Again only Blood Transfusion service and Food Bank allowed to use the hall. 



Jan. 2021 Hall received another grant of £6,000. 

Hall closed all of Feb. 2021.  Hall meeting due in February 2021 closed due to government restrictions. 

On 25[th] Feb. 2021 there was a major problem with the hall floor blowing up and lifting away from the base.  Probably due to the wet winter and hall being closed. Hired a de-humidifier for 6 days and nights.  After 6[th] day hall floor dried out and settled down and now seems to be okay.  No water leak found in hall. 

Sunday 28[th] Feb. end of hall’s financial year. 

Hall has probably lost £20,000 during lockdown but due to the government grants, the Community Fund support (Co-op) and the Parish Council, the hall’s finances are looking okay. 

I would like to than the following people: Steve for all his help to me over the last 12 months as Vice-Chairman, Peggy as Secretary who made the initial application for government grants and to the Management Committee for their attendance at meetings.  The Parish Council and the Garden Charities for their financial assistance in helping to keep the hall in a good state of repair and the community fund all of which the committee is extremely grateful.   I look forward to a more normal period for the hall in 2021/2022.
