Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of 15th Didcot Scout Group
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the 15th Didcot Scout Group for the year ended 31 March 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the 15th Didcot Scout Group you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the 15th Didcot Scout Group accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the 15th Didcot Scout Group as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
-
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Structure, Governance and Management
The 15th Didcot Scout Group is part of The Scout Association and operates under its Policy, Organisation and Rules. The Group is governed by a constitution as an educational charity and is managed by a Group Executive Committee, whose members are the charity trustees. Trustees are elected or co-opted in accordance with the Group’s constitution. All trustees are familiar with the responsibilities of charitable trustees and receive induction and guidance from The Scout Association.
2. Objectives and Activities
Charitable Objectives:
To actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Main Activities:
The Group delivers a balanced programme of activities for young people aged 6 to 14 through the following sections:

Beaver Scouts (ages 6–8)

Cub Scouts (ages 8–10½)
-
Scouts (ages 10½–14)
Key activities throughout the year included:

Weekly section meetings with structured, age-appropriate programmes

Outdoor adventures including camping and hiking
-
Skills-based activities such as cooking, first aid, and teamwork challenges

Community service projects and environmental activities
-
Participation in District and County scouting events
All activities aim to support young people’s personal development and adhere to the principles of Scouting: integrity, respect, care, belief, and cooperation.

3. Achievements and Performance
In the past year, the Group has:

Continued to grow, with membership across all sections

Achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold Chief Scout Awards across each section

Recruited and trained new adult volunteers, strengthening our leadership base
The Group has received positive feedback from parents and carers and continues to play a key role in the local community.
4. Financial Review

During the period the Group received a donation of land adjoining the existing.
5. Plans for the Future
For the upcoming year, the Group aims to:

Expand provision by entering into partnership with the District in respect of Explorer Scouts (ages 14–18)

Improve and make valuable use of the donated land
-
Continue leader recruitment and offer enhanced adult training opportunities
-
Strengthen community links and fundraise for a long-term improvement to facilities
The trustees remain committed to delivering high-quality Scouting experiences and ensuring longterm sustainability for the benefit of young people in Didcot.
6. Public Benefit Statement
The trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
All young people aged 6–14 are welcome to join the 15th Didcot Scout Group, regardless of background or ability. The programme is designed to support physical, mental, and emotional development, equipping young people with skills for life.

Tangible fixed assets
