PLAYING FIELD COMMITTEE – Report Year ending MARCH 2022
Due to the community being cautious, no VALENTINE DANCE was held in February 2022. We did continue to hold our weekly carboots, starting in April all through the glorious sunshine to the 13[th] October, we were very fortunate with numbers this year and an exceptional number when coinciding with local village yard sale.
Our weekend event changed to again coincide with the Jubilee weekend, Saturday afternoon old fashioned games for young and not so young was held in the form of egg and spoon, three legged races skipping races etc medals were sponsored by NCF and local Country Councillor Dawson, track marking sponsored by local Parish Council. Party in the Park turned chilly of an evening time but the music was well liked. Unfortunately the Sunday was cancelled due to rather wet weather but re-scheduled for August 14[th] , again the weather was not particularly kind to us as it was too hot, but the community still came along and supported the summer fayre.
Horse and Pony Shows, started in April with good weather and attendance, July was cancelled for Horse welfare - yet again due to weather being the hottest day of the summer. We continued with pre-payments and bookings for classes as per COVID.
Maintenance side – usual play equipment inspection threw up some minor/low risk problems that were all attended to. At last the diseased Ash Trees were removed for safety – some of the wood was sold for logs. Last piece of tree was made into a seat and is now placed o the field for general public use.
Come August we were fortunate to start 3yr plus football, with now 50 children taking part in sessions Saturday and Sunday mornings. U7 have registered with the Mid-Norfolk Youth league and will start playing matches in September 2023. With six Dads involved in the coaching this should bode well for the future of football for girls and boys.
Hopefully 2022-2023 will be more of a normal year for all.
