8rKI Conservation programmes continue lo expand, reaching new audiences and increasing engagement with nature
and wildlifè_

The Child Beale Trust is constituted by Trustees as a body and its govoming document is its Trust Deed, dated
14th August 1956.
1.1 A¢¢ounUng c¢￿ventIOn
The financial stalemont$ have b¢en prepared in accordan￿ with the charity's Trust Oeed, dated 14th August
1956, the Charities Act2011 and"Accounling and Reporting by Charities.. Slalementof Recommended Practi
applicable lo charities preparing their accoun15 in acu)rdance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable
in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS 1021 (effective 1 January 20191" Tre chatity is a Public Benefit Enb'ty
as defined by FRS 102.
The finanaal statements ha￿ departed from the Charities (A￿nts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to
the extent requirad to provide a true and fair view. This departure has invdveil foNowing the St81ement of
Recommended Practice foi charities applying FRS 102 rather than the version Of the Ststement of
Recommended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn.
The financial stalemenls are p￿pared in sterfing, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary
amounts in these finanual slal¢m¢nts are rounded lo the nearest £.
The financial slalements have been prepared under the histori¢%1 cost convention, modtfied to incjudp the
revaluation of freehold propertie5 and to indude investrnenl properties and cortain finantial instruments at fail
value. The principal accounting poliaes adopted are set out below.
1.2 Golng concern
Al the time of approving the financial statements, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity
ha5 adequate Tesources lo Continue in operational exislen¢e for the foreseeable future. Thus the Iwslees
continue to adopt the going ¢on¢em basis of 8¢¢ounling in preparing the fjnanaal statements.
1.3 Charltable funds
Unrestricted general funds are funds which can be used in accordance wth the chaiitable objects al the
disuetion of the Trustees.
Designated funds are funds sgt aside by Ihe Trustees out of unrestricted general fvnds for specific future
purpuses or proJo¢ts.
Rgslri¢tod fvnds ai6 funds that Can only be used foi parti¢ula¥ restri￿ed purposes within the objects of the
Charity. Restrictions arise when spe(Yfied by the ￿0￿Or or when funds are raised for particular re8tTiCted
purposes.
1.4 Income
Income is recognised when the charity is legany entitled to il after any perfomiance conditions have been met,
the amounts can be measured reliably. and it is probable that income will be received.
Cash donations are recognised on re￿ipl. (Xher donations are recognised once the charity has been noltfied
of th¥ donation, unless perfomiance ￿nditionS require deferral of the amount.
During the y88r ended 3181 October 2018 thè charhy recelved a gift of a signffi¢anl wllecllon of model boats
from the E5ts1e of the IoTmer Chair of Trustees, Richard Howard. An accurate valuation was not pussible bul rt
is believed they may in loial be worth £240,000. The charity will dispose of these boats over a long period of
lim¢, lo obtain the best value in the market. The Trustees detemiined that the proceeds from sale will be
recognised as thgy aii8e and are ¥hown as gtfts Mlhin Voluntary IntJ)me.

Liabilities are recD9nwd as expgndituie as soon as there is alggal or¢onslru¢iive obligation committing the charity
to that expenditure, il is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in sethement and the amount
of the obligation can be rneasured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an acuu8ls basis and has b88n
¢lassified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where ￿$ts cannot be direct￿ attributed
tl) particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

gift shop and restaurant run by the subsidiary c4Jmpany.

Govèmaneè costs include those incurred in tha govamanca of the charity and its as8ets and are primarily
associated constitutional and statutory requirgments.

th the use of resourceg. e.g., allocating propety costs by lloor areas or per Capita. staff costs by the time spent
and other costs by their usagè.

Intangible assets acquired separately from a business are recognised at cost and ar8 Subsequèntly mèasurèd at
