Trustees Report 2024/25
Our membership at March 2025 is 396 and activity attendances of 14,274 for the last membership year May 24 to April 25. This Continues the growth seen in the previous year.
We are running 34 different activities, and an increased number of social events which have proved very popular
Outside bookings from other charities and local groups which account for another 12,500 attendances have also increased thanks to the efforts of the new hall bookings secretary. So the hall is now used more intensively although we still have capacity to expand further. There has also been a benefit as people attending the outside bookings have joined as new members of the trust realising what the trust offers.
Income from hall bookings remains healthy and a big thank you to all concerned. Income is also generated by the continued residence of the chiropody practice and from our popular monthly market stall efficiently run by volunteer members
Our social events team have now regularly spoils us with brilliant evening entertainment this past 12 months with improvements to the AV lighting system to enhance the experience of musical events.
Glen Kennedy, in his second year as treasurer, has managed to secure a £20000 grant to replace the halls old gas heating and hot water system with an Air Source Heat Pump, new water tank and upgraded radiators at a cost of £23940. And thanks to everyone who helped out with temporary heating and working around the contractors as it had to be completed in February to meet the grant timescales. Not a single activity or hall booking was cancelled as a result. This is will further reduce the energy cost and has enabled disconnection of the gas supply and meter making the hall more environmentally friendly as well as future proofing our building not only for us but for those who come after us.
Other improvements include the installation of full fibre Broadband, replacement of the 2 Table tennis tables, replacing the 20 year old gas cooker with a new electric range cooker and modernisation of the IT by using the cloud rather than local data storage. This enables trustees and key volunteers to work remotely saving time and improving response times. We will continue to strive to improve things and make the Trust stronger as we adapt to new demands from our members and local community.
