Exarchate of we￿ern Eur￿, Ireland and Malty as ratified by the Ecumeni¢al Patriarchate

Objects *nd ac¢ivities
The objects of the Charity are to womote the Greek (kthcthx faith and Greek Orth<xlox
charitable instÉtirtiorts in Reading and environs. The Clwity achieves this throu8h re8ular
(llonnally weekly) acts of worsh￿. 514Vrn and expanding a Greek Orthodox s¢hool, and
occasional so¢i8J fill￿tIons thus bnnw8 benefit to the Greel C}￿10t afyj the wider Orthodox
¢ODimuDity.
Review of achievements and perfonnAn¢t
We started 2025 with a New Years. a vtty well atten(kd Blessing of the WateT5.
which took place ID Sonnin8 once again and the cutting of the Vasilopiw all vital events for
our church and community. This followed in FebnJ8ry with yet 88ain arAother successfi
Ap)kries I Carnival pty for the CLMnmunity and our Greek schools, children. A big well
done and thank you to the voluntrets who organised this fimdrw'sing evenL
t of the ordinary, Fetfw 8150 a PilgTJmage trip to Egypt vthere tnany of our
P8tislll'oners and ¢ommunity members Fwticipated to a once in a lifetime trip, thanks to Fr.
Andreas Andre0￿U10$'S initiatsve to organis¢ from Greece. The Op[￿ll￿.ty lo visit so many
Holy grounds was a trnnsforniative 8nd impa¢tful experience for many of us, ond it was very
imwrtant that we all slwed it and will always caTry with ￿$. The Holy Week and Easter went
very well with an even ￿'gher atten￿ fn)m our panshiot)ers. Thank you to all volunteers
who made Easter calldjcs for sale, prepared red egg& made E&st¢r b1￿ults helped with
vering the flooT of the church flooT with plastic sheets. Stsyed late to decorate our beautiful
Epitsphios and also hel￿d cleaning the church aftff the Resurrection service in the early
hours of the Elster Sunday moming.
June had a very pleasant surprise for all of ￿ when Fr. C<￿￿lin0S was officialty appointed
our regular pries(8fter 2 years of having visiling priests, alon8 with OUT beloved Fr. lan
Graham. We were all delighted to have a deeply pious and enhght¢ned spiritual father
amongst US. 8nd we welcome the ar¢bdio¢ese's very wise d￿lS1On for the wellking and unity
of our community.
In July we celebrated OUT Patr￿ Saint Eli&s' Fe&st Day and we were honoured to have V47th
once agai￿ His Eminence Archbishiyp Nikita8 The V. Revd ATchimandn'te Cbrysoslomos
Tympas. Revd Protopresbirter Dr An(beas Andre0￿￿10s. Revd. knhdCaC￿ G￿)rge
Tsourous. the Mtyor of Read￿ C]r. Dr. Alice Bofipcoles, a￿1 our An81ian brethren frorn St
Mark's Church. All were very itnwessed with how many people attended the eveDI as well as
with the increase of the non-Greek OrtlKthx parishioners. His Eminence seemed very
tisfied with the constant aDd stable progress of Prophet Eli&s' churcty offered his paternal
blessitw and enwuraged and re-effin￿ hi5 SUHK)rt for the community's vision for the
ture. (Xw honoured guests were very happy with hospitslity and everyone's gratitude
on¢c more, goes to all volunieers who helped with our Feasi's preparation.

Our Greek school continues to be doiftg very well thaDkMy, with mThkni and Ancient Gfftk
lessons and th¢ parents who are gettjng incr￿lD81Y involved in the school and church
activities &$ they ate so ¢losely inter-con]￿ed. The chddTeD artend the Service on most
SuDdays' they are getting conllllunion rfthey wtsh and seem more fami.liar within the chU￿b
than ever before. This is thanks to OUT very wwble and hard-working He&*ea¢her Mrs.
Keramida and all the t￿her% atyj I would like to thank them for keepmg up the g(￿ wo
they have Ixen doing so far.
We also continu¢ participating in CThurches Together with our representative ￿ttig our
s¢¢rewy Mr. John Irvine. Ple&se tslk to John if you w(dd like to Wicipate or find out rn￿e
about this activity.
]n the next two years we continue raiSiD8 funds f￿ 8 w)ssible building of our and I
would like to encomge everyi)ne to Sign up to our datsbase for regular and news of
our Churc￿ as well as moving towards donations electronically via Standing order preferdbly.

very generous donors, our hosts at St Mark's cburcty our priests and the Archdioces¢ of
course, &s everyone regardless of baT*ing a srnall or a h'g role. help in Mainta￿]ll8 the churc
school and community of Prilpbet Elia& building a StroDgeT network of people with similar
ititerests and beliefs and a better future for our cottllnunity overall.

The PTincipal Sources of iwome forthe Clwity Ik)nations and subscriptions from the church
cottllnunity, collections at cbuTch services and for the Greek school. Income is also derived
fr(XD social fimdions and interest on bank dwsits. Ext*nth'ture is largely in the provision of
regular ch￿￿ s¢rvices and the GTeek school.
The financial wf(xmance was wt as succesrfd as the previous year which had been marked
by the SI￿lf]￿lt fiukdraising. There w&$ a surplus for the year of £3.041 compaTed with a
surplus of £50,869 in 2024. As a result of the ￿"g￿ level of donations in the weNryous year 8ross
incmie decreased to Nl,972. Costs were £38,931 an IJ*Tease of less than Y/.
The Charity had net assets and u[￿eStri￿ca reserves of £177.173 th 31 October 2025. The
Tnths CODSider that a minimum of £38.(XKJ. being suffJ¢ient for one year's expendit
should be kept ¢X) general fi￿d. but the Tn￿e¢S wish to continue i￿1]d￿g up these reserves to
safeguard the firture of the Charity and eventually be ID a wsition to consider the purchase of
church. To that end a generous ¢knor has advanced £51,654 in respect of this goal. In the
event of a purchLse of a suiiable propffj withm five years, this will k Wed &s a gift. Until
thAt time, il is re8arded as an interest free los￿ repayable in November 2026.
