Annual Report – 2024

The Trust has had two main financial purposes: to raise money for the construction of the school’s buildings and to enable UK citizens to sponsor students who would otherwise have been unable to afford an education at the school. The first of the Trust’s purposes is now complete. The aim of the Trust was to provide suitable, sustainable buildings for the school which would then be maintained by the School Society who manage the school. This has largely happened, although the COVID pandemic has meant that some financial support is still required for building maintenance and staff salaries.

The student sponsorship scheme continues to support a number of students and with the benefit of digital video technology, students have been able to share their stories with their sponsors, which has been an encouragement to donors and recipients alike.

The Trust is grateful to the school’s Principal, Ms J. Kipgen, for her leadership during what has been a particularly difficult last few years. The COVID pandemic meant the school was closed and this has been followed by a period of civil instability in Manipur state which has led to refugees coming into the village with their children needing schooling. Throughout this time Ms Kipgen has worked tirelessly and imaginatively to keep the school operating and to introduce many of the educational programmes that she has used in the UK.

The Trustees are grateful for the interest and commitment of many people in Hertfordshire and around the country who support the Charity.
