## 2020/21 Trustees Annual Report – Friends of Shepherds Down School (FOSDA) ## **OBJECTIVES OF FOSDA** The main objective of the FOSDA association is to provide additional resources for the children to ensure that their educational needs are maximised and that they learn from play and all the activities that the school can provide. FOSDA will fund activities and equipment that the school cannot fund from their normal budget. ## **MAIN ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS THIS YEAR** The main fund raising activities that would normally take place like, the Summer Fete, Golf day and Quiz have all been cancelled due to COVID. We had arranged for a celebrity evening with Matthew Le Tissier and a charity football match but these were all cancelled. We however did a crowdfunding event and we managed to raise £3,700. We have been supported by Hockley Golf Club as we were their charity of the year. Even these funds were curtailed as they were not able to put on so many fundraising events. Other funds have been given to us in the form of Donations from a number of sources. The local golf club – Hockley, has raised £2,300 towards an improved play area for our PMLD classes. A Local company APS Solutions has kindly donated - £450 to go towards waterproof leggings for the children, they do love to play in puddles and mud. However at the same time as having reduced income we have had reduced outgoings as we have not had our Music Therapist coming into school, due to COVID restrictions. The Crowdfunding income has been used to provide additional therapy support for the pupils in the form of additional sensory processing support. Additional sensory equipment has been purchased to help this process. We have spent of funds on the following projects: Provision of a canopy for two classrooms to enable more outdoor learning - £9,439 We have spent £10,117 on Educational Learning through the Arts (ELTA) by employing a teacher one day a week. We have improved the library resources for the school - £800 We installed therapeutic play items in the Nightingales class playground - £2,500 We paid for tree scrub clearance around the school - £1,200 Attention Autism is an initiative where we engage with the autistic pupils through a new communication method. £415 Unfortunately we have been unable to have any volunteer groups into the school to help us with, painting the school or carrying out gardening activities.
