Epsom And Ewell Phab Club Trustees Report For the year ended 31st January 2025

The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31st January 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 105) (effective 1 January 2015).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and aims

The charity operates for the public benefit, it provides a youth club for young people, encouraging inclusion through having fun together. Weekly club evenings, lively programme of outings and events and an annual activity holiday.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

The year ending 31 January 2025 has been another busy one.

We held regular club evenings on most Fridays at NESCOT which continues to provide a good base for our club. Members had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities during these evenings, which included a variety of sports as well as arts and crafts and also dance and drama. When we were unable to meet at NESCOT we arranged outings so that members could try other activities such as trampolining, cycling using adapted bikes, bowling and tackling a high ropes course.

We went on our adventure activities holiday over the Easter weekend which was held at Bendrigg Lodge. A group of thirty nine members and 25 helpers greatly enjoyed a variety of challenges that included climbing, abseiling, canoeing and orienteering. All the members on the holiday had the opportunity to complete Footprint Awards, which were a great way for them to document their many achievements in a way that could easily be shared with their families.

At the start of the summer, we had a club trip to Legoland Windsor which everyone enjoyed despite the rain. This was followed by a family BBQ, held at NESCOT, which was popular with both PHAB and mini PHAB families.

An active summer continued with a group of members and volunteers taking part in Parallel Windsor in July and then the Superheroes triathlon in August. Both events helped to raise awareness of and funds for the club.

In the autumn, rehearsals for a new show, Park Heights, started and at the close of the year were proceeding well, ahead of the scheduled performance at Epsom Playhouse at the beginning of March 2025.

Epsom and Ewell Mini PHAB continues to thrive and has been going from strength to strength thanks to Rosie Clark and all the other volunteers who support it. The club is a busy welcoming group for children from a few weeks old up to school age as well as for their parents and carers, meeting every Friday morning during term time.

Interest in the club continues to be healthy with the membership at over 100 and an increasing waiting list.

Epsom and Ewell Phab could not run without the active support of many volunteers and donors. The Trustees would therefore like to thank everyone for their help over the last year in making sure that we could continue to successfully deliver vital services to our members and the community. There are always opportunities for volunteers to help us raise funds for future activities so please don't hesitate to come forward to any of us trustees if you would like to help with future fundraising.
