¢. Golng concern
The Board of Trustees has a reasonable expectation that the trust has adequate resouTces to continue lo
operate for the foreseeable future. The Trustees have considered a" number of factors in arfiving at this
conclusion. The Academy had a free reserves position al the 31 August 2025 of £100,730 in addition to
restricted reserves of Nil, with £261.430 held of cash al this dale. Going forwards. the Academy is expanding by
32 pupils per year for the next 3 years, and we will start lo benefit from this extra funding in future years. There
is also an or¥Joing focus on increasing Sixth form pupil numbers, and the financial benefft of this change is
expected in 2025126. A detailed budget for 2025126 has been prepared and updated to include the rise of
inflation, and additional 51affing cost5. Thi5 budget for 2025126 is initially forecasting a £279,¢Joo surplu5 after
taking these additional c0515 tnto account, 83 well as beginning lo implement an action plan Ihal the TTU51 has
pul in place. Forecasts for luture years show surpluses are expected, wrth a plan in place allowing the Trust to
restore reserves to within their reserves policy and for them to continue operating as a going concern.
Financial review
Most of the Academy's income is obtained from the DE in the form of recurrent granls, the use of which is
reslrided to particular purposes. The grants received from the DfE during the year ended 31 August 2025 and
the associated expenditure are shown as Restrided Funds in the Statement of Financial Activi(ies.
The Academy also re￿Ne5 grants for fixed a55ets from the DIE and are shown in the Statement of Fina￿la￿
Aclivrties as reslricled income in the Fixed Asset Fund. The Reslricled Fixed Asset Fund balance is reduced by
annual depreciation charges over the useful life of the assets concerned. as defined in the Academy's
accountin9 policies.
The Academy took on a deficit in the L(xal Government Pensijn Scheme in respect of its non-te&hing staff
transferred on conversion. This is now capped at Nil as staled in nole 25 and is incorporated within the
Statement of Financol Activity with details in Note 24 to the finaneial 51alemenls.
Key financial policies adopted or reviewed during the year include the Finance Policy which lays out the
framework for financial management, including financial re5ponsibilrties of the Board. Head Teacher, budget
holders and other staff, as wem ès delegated authority for Spending. Other policies reviewed and updated
included Lettings. Charging and Remissions and Premises Management. Anti-Fraud is included in the Finance
Policy.
Trustees have adopted a Responsible Officer in the Finance Policy and appointed Devon Audil Partnership to
undertake a programme of internal checks on financial controls for the period up to August 2025. During the
year. the Tru51ees received two report5 covering visits from the Responsible Officer which contained nc matters
of s￿nIfiCanCe.

£6.595.901 {2024'. £5,704.5911 and incurred totsl expendilufe, excluding depreciation and pension expendilufe
of £6.581,536 (2024.. £6.D11.1651. The excess of income over expenditure, excluding capital and pensio)n for

Respon$lb51itie5 of truslees
As explained more fully in the Statement of ITuslees' re5ponsibililies, the Trustees (who are also the directors of
the Academy for the purposes of company lawl are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements
and for being satisfied that they gNe a true and fair view, and foT such intemal control as the Trustees detemine

Auditors. responsibllltios for the audit of the financial statements
Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial slalemenls as a whole are free
from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and lo issue an Auditors, report that includes our
opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, but is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in
accordance with ISAS IUKI will a￿ayS deled a material misslatemenl when il exists. Misstatements can arise
from fraud or error and are considered material rf, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be
expected to influence the eeonomic decisions of users taken on the basis of these financial slalements.
Ir￿gularities, including fraud. are instances of non-compliance ￿th laws and regulations. We design
procedures in line with our responsibilitses. outlined above, lo detect material misstatements in respect of
irregularrties, including Iraud. The extent to which our procedures are capable of delecling irregularrties.
including fraud is detailed below..
Our audft procedures have reviewed for evidence of managemenl ovemde, any ongoing legal cases.
compleleness of relèled party Iransaclions, as well a5 an ongoing consKleralion of fraud and ifregukritie5 during
the whole audit process.
Because of the inherent Ilmitslions of an audit, there is a risk that we will not delect all irregulafilies. including
those leading to a material misststement in the financial slalemenls or non<ompliance with regulation. This risk
ncreases the more that compliance with a law or regulation is removed frorn the events and Iransaetions
reflected in Ihe financial slalements. a5 we will be less likely to become aware ol instances of non-compliance.
The risk is also greater regarding Fr￿gularItieS occurring due to fraud rather than error, 88 fraud involves
nlenlKinal concealment. forgery, collusion. omission or misrepresentèlion.

affiving at this conclusion. The Academy had a free reserves position * the 31 August 2025 of
£100.730 in addition to restricted reserves of Nil, with £261,430 held ol cash al this date. Going
fofwards. the Academy is expanding by 32 pupil$ per year for the next 3 years, and we will start lo
benefit from this extra furbding in future years. There is also an ongoing focus on increasing sixth
fomi pupil numbers, and the financial benefft of this change is expected in 2025126. A detailed
budget for 2025126 has been prepared and updated to include the rise of inflation. and additional
staffing costs. This budget for 2025126 15 ini(ially foreca51ing a £279.000 surplu5 after taking these
additional costs into account, as well as beginning to implement an actton plan that the Trust has pul
in place. Forecasts for future years show SLtrpluses are expected, with a plan in place allowing the
Trust lo restore reseNes to within their reserves polrey and foi them to conthnue operating as a going

1.11 Operating leases
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged lo the Statement of financial activf(ies on
straight-line basis over the ￿sSe lemi.
1.12 Penslons
Retirement benefits to employees of the Academy are provided by the Teachers, PensKJn Scheme
{'TPS"l and the Local Governm&nt Pension Scheme I"LGPS"l. These are defined benefft schem&s.
The TPS Is an unfunded scheme and contributions are calculated lo spread the cost of pensions
over employees, working lives with the Academy in such a way that the pension cost 15 0
substanliaNy level percentage of current and future pensionable payroll. The contributions are
delermirbed by the Govemment Actuary based on quadrennial valuations using a pro$￿tIVe unit
credit method. TPS is an unfunde¢J mulli-employer scheme with no underlyir¥J assets to assign
bettveen employers. Consequently, the TPS is treated as a defined contribution scheme for
accounting purposes and the contribLrtions recognised in the period to which they relate.
The LGPS is a funded mult1￿MplOyer scheme. and the assets are held separately from those of the
Academy in separate Trustee administered funds. Pension scheme assets are measured at fair
value and liabilities are measured on an actuarial basis using the projected unil Credit method and
discounted al a rale equivalent lo the current rale of return on a high quality corporate bond of

Crltl¢al accountlng estlmates and areas of judgment
Estimates and judgmen15 are eonlinually evaluated and are based on historical experience and other
factors, including expectations of future events that are belteved to be reasonable under the
circumstances.
Critical accounting estimates and assumptions..
The Academy makes estimates and as$umplion$ concerning the future. The resulling accounting
estimates and assumplKJns wll. by definrtion, seldom equal the related actual results. The estimates and
assumptions that have a significant risk of causing a material adjustment lo the Car￿n9 amounts of
assets and liabilit￿5 wrthin the next financial year are discussed below.
The present value of the Local Govemmenl Pension Scheme defined benefit liability depends on a
number of factors that are detemiined on an actuarial basis using a variety of assumptions. The
assumptions used in determining the nel cost Of income for pens￿n$ include the discount rate. Any
hanges in these assumptions. which are disclosed in note 26, will impact the ￿rryIng amount of the
pension liability. Furthemiore a roll forward approach bthich projects results from Ihe lalesl full adyarial
valuation perfoimed al 31 March 2022 has been used by the actuary in valuing the pensions liability al 31
August 2022. Any differences be￿een the figures derived from the roll forward approach and a full
actuarial valuation would impact on the carrying amount of the pension liability.
Critic31 areas of judgment..
The Academy Trust obtains use of fixed assets as a lessee. The classification of such leases as
operating or h'nance leases Tequires the Academy Trust to detemine. based on an evaluation of the
lem)s and codition5 01 the aftangements. whether il ￿tainS or acquires the signrficanl ri5k5 and rewafds
of ownership of these assets and accordingty whether the lease requires an a55et and liabilty to be
re￿gnised in the Balance Sheet.
Depreciation is estimated over the useful economic lrfe of an a5sel in order lo write off the value of this
asset in line with life.
The valuation of land and buildings 15 a signrficanl area of eslirnation within the financial ststemenls. In
accordance wrth the Academies Accounts Direction issued by the Department for Education IDE), the
Academy Twsl recognises land and buildings at fair value on conversion or acquisition, based on a
valuat¢on commis5roned by the DIE and Carried out by independent professional valuers. Subsequent
valuations are undertaken al least every fwe years, or sooner if there is evidence of material change. The
Valuat￿Tr methodology used is Depreci*ed Replacement Cost IORCI, which reflects the cost of replacing
asset wilh a modem equivalent, adjusted for physical deterKJration and obsolescence.
The Aeademy Trust recognises an accrual for staff back pay where there is a conslruclNe obligation
aTising from contractual agreements. national pay awards. or other formal cornmi(menl$. This estimate
invofve5 judgement regarding the timin9, eligibilty. and amount of backdated pay due lo employees.
Where final pay awards are pending, the Tru51 uses best estimatès based on available guidance and
sector nOTms.
