1. Introduction

The Weydon School Trust Fund (WSTF) operates in accordance with its Governing Document dated 11[th] February 2021.

2. Objects and Trustees

WSTF exists for the purpose of advancing education of the students of Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT) by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for the education of students at the schools that would not normally be provided.

There are five Trustees including the Weydon Principal, a governor of Weydon School at the time of their appointment and a parent of a current child at the school, and two others who should be a parent, a governor or someone who has relevant, specialist knowledge.

3. Principal Activity

The principal activity of the charity is to receive funding from Weydon Extended School Services (WESS), a private company, as well as donations from parents and others and, following requests from headteachers and principals, to approve disbursements to WMAT schools.

In carrying out its activities the trustees consider that they have complied with the duty to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance.

4. Review of Achievements and Results in 2022-23

The charity received a donation from WESS of £231,700 (21-22 £40,706) and donations and other income of £13,191 (21-22 £11,279).

In approving requests for funding, the charity made payments to WMAT schools of £80,640 (21-22 £61,217).

The net increase in funds for the year was £164,027 (21-22 – a net decrease in funds of £9,492)

5. Reserves

The Trustees’ policy is to ensure that reserves are at least sufficient to replace the all-weather pitch at Weydon School, which will required in a number of years time. Otherwise, reserves are retained until such time as funding is requested by WMAT schools for purposes in accordance with the charity’s objects.

As at 31[st] August 2023 the charity’s reserves, which are all unrestricted in nature, were £777,627 (£613,600 as at 31[st] August 2022).
