Main ac'vi'es (Chair’s report – AGM 9[th] June 2023)
I thought I’d start with a personal perspec3ve; for me our school is such a special place and being part of it through the CSA really is a huge privilege. School nurtures and invests in our children, and I love the opportuni3es to nurture and invest in the school. It really is a privilege and a joy.
and it hurt so much that we couldn’t access this place and community that felt so special and we had just seTled into. Becoming part of the CSA felt like the natural thing to do even though I didn’t know how it would fit with work and the rest of life. I enjoyed the ways that the CSA could bring people together in small ways at that 3me, but I certainly never saw myself as someone who would organise big events like discos, Christmas fayres or summer fetes but what I want to say it that it’s surprising what you grow into and even more so – what can happen when people work together.
on the commiTee brings different ideas, interests, backgrounds, capaci3es to help and do things at different 3mes. And you’ll have heard the plea to join this jigsaw…
But I must also say that the CSA jigsaw does not stop at the commiTee; each of you who has baked a cake, helped to run a stall, provided a gazebo, put up signs, served drinks, moved chairs and tables, helped at a disco, pushed Christmas trees through the ne[ng machine – whatever it is; each person is part of this jigsaw. We know that not everyone can do everything but things work best when lots of people each do their bit. So thank you for the bits that you have done – it really means a lot and nurtures this special place.
Being part of this jigsaw (whether it’s in a big or a small way) really brings a sense of belonging and fosters the school community. So I would urge you – whether you can do a liTle or a lot – to keep saying yes when we need people to help with things. They just can’t happen without your help.
We would love to have some new people join the commiTee. In 3me members of this commiTee will step down. Annie our treasurer plans to step down in a year, possibly myself too. We will need people to come alongside and then take the reigns. Being on the commiTee doesn’t mean constant hard work – we all do different amounts at different 3mes, and hopefully are flexible and realis3c about what we can each offer. So if you’ve been thinking about this I would urge you to say yes when we get to that part of the mee3ng.
the CSA has raised important funds for the school. But for me the absolute highlight was the Grow a Pound project.
I loved the way the children really embraced this idea, lots of liTles became a lot. They were so proud and excited and so they should have been. Each mini business was unique and personal to that child which made it so special. What they did individually – and no doubt with the support of their families – created a lot, not just in financial gain but in that sense of belonging through contribu3ng, in crea3vity, with pride and purpose. They should be so proud. We are so proud of them.
The big events are great, and really important for posi3oning the school in the community, but it was the personal and individual crea3ve efforts of grow a pound that I think was my highlight of the year.

Treasurer’s Report CSA AGM 9[th] June 2023
1. Accounts for the Year Ended 31[st] August 2022
The accounts for the year ending 31[st] August 2022 were sent out with the AGM invita3on email. Spare copies here.
£9680 compared to the previous year.
Over the year we fundraised a total of nearly £14,000 compared to around £4500 the previous year. The newly introduced Compton 10K race and fete raised nearly £9000 alone, thus was the major contributer to the increased fundraising. A significant amount of sponsorship (£4500) was received for this event, bolstering funds raised.
As the 10K event was in the Summer term, much of the pot of money raised was carried into the next year for spending, allowing school 3me to plan and priori3se their ‘wish-list’. Spending last year (which was just over £4000) was therefore a similar paTern to in previous years and mainly on general curriculum enrichment and school trips.
2. The year 1[st] Sept 2022 – 31[st] August 2023 so far …
This year, the school have been able to use the pot of money raised by 10K to buy much needed IT equipment, including projectors and a new case of 9 iPads. CSA funds have also purchased a wide range of sports equipment, reading books, musical instruments, as well as subsidiing school trips.
Fundraising is also very ac3ve this year:
-
The Compton 10K has raised, again, an incredible amount of just over £7000.
-
expenses accounted for.
-
Addi3onally, there are the con3nued ‘regular’ fundraising ac3vi3es – cake sales, 2[nd] hand uniform, Christmas fayre and other Christmas events, and much more.
So far this year we have raised nearly £14800 and so we are in an excellent posi3on to fund the school with much needed resources going forward, which is planned to cover playground improvements and further ITC upgrades.
Thank you for all your support
