  1. Trustees approved the financial reporting on Thursday 6[th] April 2025. Trustees of the charity at that time were the following:

  12. The management of the Society is conducted by a Committee, elected every two years by Members at an Annual General Meeting. If a vacancy for any Officer or member of the Committee fails to be filled by election at the Annual General Meeting or vacant positions during the year, the Committee shall have the power to fill this vacancy by co-opting any member of the Society to serve as that officer or member with full rights as if elected for the remainder of the term.

  13. The charity is unincorporated and uses its constitution to govern its operations.

  14. The Aim of the Society is to: Educate the public in the operatic and dramatic arts. Further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts. Assist and further such charitable institutions and charitable purposes as the Committee shall from time to time determine.

  15. The Society operates in Reading, Berkshire and currently produces its main shows at The Kenton Theatre in Henley on Thames due to lack of a venue in Reading capable of meeting the required balance of size, technical facilities and budget.

  16. One production was staged during the year; a second production was planned but was not possible due to scheduling issues with the theatre. Each was preceded by months of training and rehearsal. Members also took part in workshop, community, charitable and fundraising events.

  17. There were no serious incidents requiring disclosure during the year.

  18. Income for the year was £31,485 and expenditure was £20,308, leading to a surplus of £11,177 and an improvement in the Society’s overall finances.

  19. There was no expenditure incurred outside the United Kingdom.

  20. No grants, income or contracts were received from central or local government.

  21. The society has no employees or paid staff.

  22. The Trustees reviewed and continue to review, the Society's financial controls and safeguards.

On accounts for the year 31[st] December 2023 Charity no 297402 ended (if any) Set out on pages (remember to include the page numbers of additional sheets) I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/12/2023. Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
