  1. Trustees approved the financial reporting on Thursday 27[th] April 2023. Trustees of the charity at that time were the following:

  14. The management of the Society is conducted by a Committee, elected every two years by Members at an Annual General Meeting. In the event that a vacancy for any Officer or member of the Committee fails to be filled by election at the Annual General Meeting or vacant positions during the year, the Committee shall have the power to fill this vacancy by co-opting any member of the Society to serve as that officer or member with full rights as if elected for the remainder of the term.

  15. The charity is unincorporated and uses its constitution to govern its operations.

  16. The Aim of the Society is to: Educate the public in the Operatic and dramatic arts. Further the development of public appreciation and taste in the said arts. Assist and further such charitable institutions and charitable purposes as the Committee shall from time to time determine.

  17. The Society operates in Reading, Berkshire and the surrounding area.

  18. Two productions were staged during the year. Each was preceded by months of training and rehearsal. Members also took part in community, charitable and fundraising events.

  19. There were no serious incidents requiring disclosure during the year.

  20. Income for the year was £25,334 and expenditure was £28,208. The net loss for the year was £2,874.

  21. There was no expenditure incurred outside the United Kingdom.

  22. No grants, income or contracts were received from central or local government.

  23. The society has no employees or paid staff.

  24. The Trustees reviewed and continue to review, the Society's financial controls and safeguards.

Responsibilities and As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
