**Objects:** TO ASSIST AND PROMOTE THE CARE, MAINTENANCE, PRESERVATION AND ADORNMENT OF THE CHURCH OF ST. BARTHOLOMEW CHURCHDOWN, ITS MEMORIALS AND FURNISHINGS AND THE GENERAL MAINTENANCE OF THE CHURCHYARD. IN FURTHERANCE OF THE SAID OBJECT BUT NOT FURTHER OR OTHERWISE THE SOCIETY THROUGH ITS OFFICERS SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING POWERS; (I) TO RAISE FUNDS AND TO INVITE AND RECIEVE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM ANY PERSON OR PERSONS WHATSOVER BY WAY OF SUBSCRIPTIONS AND OTHERWISE PROVIDED THAT THE SOCIETY SHALL NOT UNDERTAKE PERMANENT TRADING ACTIVITIES IN RAISING FUNDS FOR ITS OBJECT; (II) TO DO ALL SUCH OTHER LAWFUL THINGS AS SHALL FURTHER THE OBJECT OF THE SOCIETY.
