Addttlonal Informatlon
The Charity is not a grant making charity or involved in social Investment. The Charity is run by a Community Hall
Committee ICHCI which is made up of volLbnteers and the Harting Parish Council actlng as the Sole Managing
TTUStee is also made up of volunteers. The Charity has one employee who is the Hall's caretsker.
Achlevements and Perfomiance
The lèst year has been a challenglng year for the Hall, but also a very positive one. The main challenges have been
the substsntlal Increase In the Hall's ene￿Y costs and other inflationary pressure5, as well as the need to
undertake necessary and overdue maintenance and refurbishments. The positive aspects have been the Hartin8
Parish Council becomln8 the Sole Trustee, the supportive attitude of our regular users to the necessary increased
hlre charges, increased usage of the Hall and the introdurtion of new activities.
The most visible signs of the refurbishment are the enhancement of the entrance hall and the maln hall, a new
sign and notice board outside the hall and further upgrddlng of the audio system5. the latter thanks to the
generous support of the Harting Society. But probably the most slgnificant change Is the upgrading of the old
upstair5 committee room, now called The Humphrey Sladden Room, to become a small flexible and well-equipped
room avallable for hlre. More ￿furb1shMent In other parts of the Hall is planned in the future.
The greater u5a8e of the hall reflects the return of ad hoc hirings for birthday parties and similar events post
Covid, as well as the continued development of the Hartin8 Fllm Nights to now include regular afternoon showlngs
of Art films and, more si8niflcantly, the introduction of National Theatre Llve showings. This has led to a welcomed
increase in the Hall's Income and should allow the Hall to improve profftability In the next year.
Although this is a positive pictltre, the future holds many challenges in both retalnlng our regular users,
particularly the Pre-school, and attracting new users and actNities, as well as maintaining and refurbishiftg a
building that is beglnning to show Its age and In pla￿5 wear out. To substantlally lower our carbon footprint, as
well as improving our income, we are Investlgatlng wlth Harting CAN'S support a plan to substantially Increase our
solar power capacity and remove our dependence on oil.
