TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT

REFERENCE AND ADMINISTRATION DETAILS

The Trustees present their annual report and financial statements for the year ended 5 April 2025.

The Charity was established on 11 September 1986 under the Charity Commissioners’ scheme No.296376.

The Charity’s principal address 3 Rose Cottages, Burnham Road, Southminster, Essex, CM0 7BL.

STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT

The Trust's governing document is the Trust Deed dated 11 Sept 1986. The current Trustees are Rev. Timothy West and Mr Donald Martin, who are responsible for the administration of the Trust's funds. Both are members of the Woodgrange Baptist Church, Romford Road, Forest Gate, London, E7 8AA. The Trustees consult infrequently by both telephone and email. None of the Trustees receive remuneration from the Trust.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

In accordance with the Trust Deed the principal purposes of the Trust are:

To advance the Christian faith in Great Britain & elsewhere, to support the relief of poverty in East London, Great Britain and Internationally, to support the advancement of education, and such other charitable objectives as the Trustees may determine.

These objectives are achieved mainly through the receipt of subscriptions/funds from interested parties (individuals and groups) into the Trust bank account at HSBC bank, Stratford E15, and augmented by Gift Aid claims on subscribers' donations (if taxpayers) and applied to the causes nominated by the subscribers.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE

In the year 2024/25 one individual subscribed to the Trust, specifically enabling it to support the Africa Gospel Church’s pastoral provision and Noreen’s school in Lokichar. The Woodgrange Baptist Church donated £3,404 to the work of the Trust over the course of the year. The Trust responded to requests from four individuals for financial assistance.

The main subscriber to the Trust retired from regular donations to the Trust in February 2025.

During 2024/25 the services of the Trust were well used. Income totalling £30,174 was received during the course of the year. Total expenditure, including charitable donations of £22,928, was £24,118, which left a small surplus of funds.

WOODGRANGE BAPTIST CHURCH CHARITABLE TRUST (Scheme No.296376)

We report on the Accounts of the Charity for the year ended 5 April 2025 set out on Pages 3 to 5.

Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiners.

The Charity’s Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.

Basis of Independent Examiners’ report

Our examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently we do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts.
