Animal Protection Trust
Registered Charity No. 296078
Coldlands Farm, Haroldslea, Horley, Surrey RH6 9PJ
The Trustees are: Mrs J. Ward-Reel, Mrs G. Osborne, Mrs A. Brewer and Mrs T. Farnfield and they have been Trustees for many years.
APT does not have a rescue centre and relies on foster homes, where volunteers look after the animals in their own homes. These have gradually dwindled over the years and APT now only has one fosterer who looks after the older cats who are likely to be in care long term especially the ones who are blind or partially sighted. So with another large legacy received this year, the Trustees have continued with their decision for APT to donate to other small animal charities and rescues to help with their ongoing running costs (albeit medical costs or shelter repair costs) in looking after their particular breed of animal, be it wildlife or domestic.
The Trustees like to think that they are helping more animals in this way, beyond what they could do locally. They would like to continue this way in the foreseeable future.
There has been little change in financial activities over the years as can be seen in the Accounts. One major expense may be, in the next few years, the purchase of another small animal ambulance, as can be seen in the Balance Sheet the present one is fairly old but still functioning by spending some money on it.
APT still responds to any calls from the public to help animals in distress and take them to the local vet surgery for medical help and then find a suitable rescue to care for them with the view of re-homing, or releasing in the case of wildlife.
