Friends of Meath School Trustees, Report for the year ended 31 August 2025 Structure, governance and management Friends of Meath School (Friends of Meath) is a registered charity (number 296077). It was nd formed in 1987 under a constitution which was UF)dated on 22 December 2017, and sets out the charity's object, details of membership and meetings, officials and finance requirements. The Object of Friends of Meath is to advance the education of the pupils attending Meath School and is furthered mainly by.. raising funds to provide equipment, facilities or amenities not normally provided by the school helping parents of children attending the school to get to know one another better. Membership of Friends of Meath is open to all parents of children al the school (past and presentl, members of the school staff and others from the local community. Meetings are typically held once a month during term times with an open invitation to all members. Under the Friends of Meath Constitution Officers and Committee members are elected annually at the December Annual General Meeting (AGM). Objectives and Activities Friends of Meath pay due regard to the guidance issued by the Charities Commission on public benefit when reviewing the charity's objectives and planning future activities. Friends of Meath works with Meath School to identify items or activities which will support and further the education of the current pupils at the school. Friends of Meath undertakes a range of fundraising activities to raise funds to make grants to the school for these items or activities. During the year Friends of Meath raised funds by selling glow sticks at the school firework event, organising a Christmas hamper raffle and the big event of the year is always the summer fair. Following consultation with the school, during the year Friends of Meath transferred £84,102 to Meath School for a new playground, £15,000 was transferred for the residential provision, £10,025 for a new school car and an addilional £5,000 was transferred for transport costs for the children, outdoor leaming equipment and activities.
Friends of Meath School Trustees, Report for the year ended 31 August 2025 (continued) Achievements and Performance l) Fundraising Events and Donations Friends of Meath enjoyed a very suc¢essful year of fundraising. Parent-led initialives, including marathons, bike races and ukramarathons. generated £15,615. The summer fair was again a strong contributor, raising £5,248 after costs, this lotal includes £523 of mated funding from Barclays and a £250 donation from David McGeachie Eslate Agents. The Chnstmas raffle raised £1,366 and the sale of glowsticks at the school fireworks event raised £504. The charity also received £240 in regular monthly donations from the Knight Family. 2) Funds Bequeathed to Friends of Meath The executors of Vera Irene Almond's estate transferred a further £5,000 during the year. Bequeathed funds of £66,006 were received during the prior year. 3) Restricted Funds and Grants The opening balance of the residential restricted fund was £27,166. During the year, £15,000 was transferred to the school, leaving a closing balance of £12,166 Friends of Meath received £70,000 in restricted grant funding towards the new playground. This comprised £25,000 from the Your Fund Surrey Small Community Projects Fund, £20,000 from the National Lottery. and a further £25,000 from another donor. All funds received were transferred to Meath School, and the playground was completed in time for the start of the 2025 school year. A local charity kindly donated £5,000 for Voice Output Communication Aids (VOCA'S). This amount remained unspent al the year end. Financial Review In the current year Friends of Meath had a surplus of payments over receipts of £10,134 reflecting the completion of the major playground project. Total funds carried foNard at the yearend were £152,39412024.. £162,528). Unrestricted Funds has a surplus of£135,228. Restricted Funds has a deficit for the year of £15,000 arising from the payment made lo the school for residential ¢osts. sin 2020, when almost £140,000 was received in grants and donations for the residential provision. Friends of Meath has made significant annual contributions to the Meath School residential provision. At the year end, £12,133 remains. The Trustees hope to secure further grant funding to ensure that we can continue to support this important provision which delivers significant benefits to the children who stay overnight at school. Reserves Policy Friends of Mealh aims to maintain a minimum balance of £10,000 to ensure that we have sufficient funds to run our three main annual events.

Accounting Policies a) The Financial Statements have been prepared in aGcordance with applicable accounting standards. b) Donations and Gift Aid on donations are included when received. I Where income has related expenditure (as with events and activities) the income and expenditure are reported gross. 2. Restricted Funds Restricted Funds are amounts received which musl be applied for a specific purpose. The year end balance includes £12,166 which can only be used for the residential provision at Meath School and a further £5,000 forVoi¢e Output Communication Aids. 3. Taxation Friends of Meath is a registered charity and is exempt from tax on its income where applied for charitable purposes. 4. Trustee and Independent examlner payments and related party transactions Trustees receive no payment or benefits for their role and no Trustee expenses were reimbursed in the year. There were no related party transaGtions and no payment is made to the independent examiner.
Friends of Meath School Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of Friends of Meath School I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Friends of Meath School, Charity number 296077 {'the Trust'l for the year ended 31 August 2025 Responsibilities and basls of report As the charity trustees of Ihe Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 20111'the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under seclion 145(5}{b) of the Act. Independent Examlner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that, in any material respect.. aecounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act., or 2. the accounts do not ac¢ord wth the accounting records.
