Friends of Meath School {FOMI was fomied in 1987 as a Charty (registered number
296077) under a Constrtution which sels oul the Charity's Object, details ot membership and
meetings, 0￿￿k￿lS and finance requirements.
The Object of FOM is to advance the edUCa￿n of the putwls attending Meath Schcol and is
furthered mainty by.
raising funds to provide equipment. kn"irties or amenities not nomially provided by the
school
helping parents of chiklren attending the sch￿1 to get to know one another better
Membership of FOM is open to all parents of children at the school {past artrd presenti,
members of the school staff and others from the k)cal communty. Meetings are hekl
generally around once a month during tem times wrth open invttatK)n to all members.
Under the FOM Constitution OffI￿[S and Commitlee members are elected annually at the
December Annual General Meets"ng. The AGM is held at the school after the end of tenn
Christmas event.

Main achievements and activities
lj Fundraising activities and donaitrons
The total net amount raised from fundraising activitEs was £9.049.SN) as compared to
£1.442.68 in the previous financial year. The amount raised was predominantW through
Lovis, Ben and Charlotte Magnani as well as Cathy Mitton who ran the London Marathon
1£2,883}, the Summer Fair {£2,186.111. The Sale of Glow sticks at the Firework event
1£1,476.801 and from the Ride London cycle event (£1.669.601 Ihe increase vs prior years
takings was driven by more fund raising events as resull of COVID restnctions during the
previous financial year and a tremendous effort by all fund raisers and sponsors given there
are onty around 60 children at Meath Sch(￿.
Included wtthin our fundraising funds is £3,163 of matched fvnds secured by Caroline Slade
(£2,413 for the Summer Fair and Fireworks). Catherine Millon {£500- London Marathon)
and Geoff Trowell1£250 for Ride London).
2) Funds Bequeathed to Friends of Meath
It was bought to the Chairfs attention earfy in 2022 that the late Vera Irene Almond has
bequealhed 10 % of her estste to Friends of Meath Chanty. The execLrtors of the estate are
W Davies solicrtors in Woking. Circa half of the estate consists of propety {3 Barrens Close
Woking, GU22 7JZI and has to date not been sold as the propety has Subsiden￿ which is
undergoing investigation repair, the property had a further reading for movement t8ken in
mid-August and we await an update on this. rf the movement is at a minimal ￿Ve1 the
decision will be made rf the next stage of the repair can be Carr￿ out. Friends of Meath
have received an interim payment of £15.000 on the 1810212022 and current estimate is that
the deceased's estate is worth c. £900.￿0 subject to cosls of selling and repairs to the
subsidence
3) Grants from Unrestricted Funds for School equipment and activities
During the year £1,070.83 was transfetted to the school providing funding for Christmas gifts
for the children. the Seesaw pLqtfom, the for the Kids Out excursion and trophies for
Sports Day
4) Restrl¢ted Funds Recelpts and Payments
The opening balance of the restricted funds which were generated from funds raised from
Oliver Bates's Ice Half Maralhon and the Garfield Weston foundation in previous years was
£99,928. During the year £20,762 was transferred to the school in lieu of residential funding
and leaving a closing. restricted fund balance of £79,166

Financial position arnl ￿seThe policy
In the Current year Friend's of Meath had a surplus of receipls over payments with an overall
surplus of £128,319 {£125,833 in Ihe previous year).
For Unrestricted Funds there is a surplus of £23.248 for the year {£38.788 deficit in the
previous yearl
For Resthcted Funds there a deficil the year of £20.762 in light of the transfer to the
residenlial funds and no addtlions to the fund in year. These funds relate to the Residential
provision at Meath School and will ￿ transferred to the school as needed over the next few
years.
Other expenditure
A leaving present was purchased for Claire Young vA)o left the schcol for £136.00 and four
additional debit card machines were purchased for £57.60 to support future events,
mrtigating the need for accepting cash from Friends of Meath Supporters
Administration costs
All time spenl in helping FOM and furthering Éts objectrve is given without charge. No
administration costs have been claimed and all fijnds raised are used for School activities.
Public Benefit
Under guidance published by the Charity Commission, Chartlies must demonstrate public
benefit from their activities. FOM fulrils this by working wrth Meath School to identify items or
activities which will support and further the education of the current pupils at the school. The
Friends then undertake a range of fundrdising actwilies to raise funds to make granls lo the
School for Ihese items or activities_

1. Accounting Policies
al The Financial Statements have been prepared in acC(￿danCe with appluble accounting
standards.
b} Donations and Gift Aid on donations are included vthen r￿1Ved.
c} whe￿ income has related expendf(ure (as wtlh events and activttiesl the income and
expendilure are reported gross.
2. Restricted Funds
Restricted Funds are amounts r￿￿ed wh￿h must be applied for a Specif￿ purpose. All
amounls (arried forward at the end of the year relate to the Residential Fund.
3. Taxation
FOM is a registered charFty and is exempt from tax on tls income where applied for
ch8rilable purposes.
4. Trustee and indepgndent examiner payments and related party transaGlions
Trustees receive no payment or benefrts for Iheir role and no Tmstee expenses were
reimbursed in Ihe year. There were no re￿Ied transactions and no payment is made
to the independent examiner.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Friends of Meath School,
Charty number 296077 {'the Trust,) for the year ended 31 August 2022
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
a￿Ordan￿ with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the AGt').
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of
the 2011 Act and in carying out my examination I have followed the applicable Directions
given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I confirni that no material matters have Come to my
attention in connection wth the examination giving me cause to telieve that, in any material
respect..

examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper
