R•vl•w of th• year
The Pr&school management and stsff are highly committad to providing the hlghe8t standarrj
of Pre-8chool cafè and 8ducallon. whllst endgavourfng to operate the Pr￿school in a flnan¢lally
susl¥inabl& way. The Trustees are $8ti$fl•d with the overall performance of the Prepschool
during the year glv•n th• ehallenge8 faced the COVID pandemic.
Flnanclal rovl
During the yearend•d 31 July 2022, tho Charlty made a loss of £31,07512021'.1o$• of£14.4791.
The chadty's reservès are £75.02812021', £106,103) as al 31 July 2022.
We recogntse that o proportion of thè reseNe is lo facilitate the likely rebulld of the P￿s¢hOOl
building in the fijture though the building structure remains stable and is adequately
in8urod. Th1$ year has been parti¢ularty ¢h8llenging as the effe¢ts of thè pandemic have
continued lo be and this has meant we have had lo use the regerve fund lo help m8lnlain
adoquate cashflow. The Trustee$ consider this level of reserves to be adequate lo ensure th&
shortlmedium term fln8ncio1 stability ofthe charity. However, education fvnding has come under
immense pressure in the past number of years and the grants re¢eived from Vvokingham
Borough Council are not Sufficient to COV8T all running costs of the setting. We understand that
fvnding and grants lo be recèived In the next financi81 yearwll b& at an incTeased rats and Ihls
rate will be further reviewed in Aprfl 2024. Along with incre8$Èd funding we have reviewed
headcount of Staff and also increased the fees paid to ¢over non fvnded children and additional
services the preschool offer such as lunch club. Vve hope these steps w711 help ￿Ure
Chestnuts in the long term financially.
