## **PTA Chair's Annual Review 2023-24**
The Halliford School Parents' Association exists to strengthen the school community by fostering positive relationships between parents, sta� and pupils, providing opportunities for families to engage with school life and supporting activities that enhance the educational experience of our students.
At the end-of-year Prize Giving, Mr Davies highlighted the remarkable achievements of Halliford School, particularly against a backdrop of political and financial challenges. The steadfast support of our parent community continues to play an important role in that success and is reflected in the work of the PTA throughout the year.
The PTA's primary purpose is to bring our community together through social events and volunteering opportunities. In doing so, we provide opportunities for parents to build connections with one another and with the school, while raising funds that can be used to support projects and initiatives which benefit students.
I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who volunteered their time during the year. Whether helping at school productions and concerts, supporting Open Events, serving refreshments or assisting behind the scenes, our volunteers continue to make an invaluable contribution. Supporting music and theatre events comes with the added reward of enjoying the outstanding performances of our students and, on occasion, witnessing sta� members enthusiastically embracing a microphone and backing track.
The school greatly values the PTA's presence at Open Events, where prospective families are welcomed by current parents who share their experiences of Halliford life. We were also delighted to support the New Boys Summer Picnic in September, helping new families settle into the community with inflatables, games and a hugely popular barbecue prepared by our talented Chef.
The PTA is primarily a social organisation, but we are fortunate that our fundraising activities also enable us to support the school. Following last year's contribution towards the new theatre seating, we were delighted to see work commence on the theatre refurbishment this summer and look forward to enjoying future performances in the enhanced space. During the year, the PTA also contributed towards the Year 11 Activity Day and Upper Sixth Leavers' Gifts, helping to celebrate important milestones for our students.
The continued success of our second-hand uniform sales deserves particular recognition. In recent years, the introduction of a new sports kit and the growth of our uniform stock has created a valuable resource for families while also generating funds for the PTA. Managing this operation is no small undertaking and special thanks must go to Sara Grant for her tireless organisation and commitment. Sara can also occasionally be found performing in the orchestra at school music events, leading some to suspect she may be our most talented PTA member.
Our social calendar once again provided plenty of opportunities for parents to come together and enjoy school life beyond the classroom.
The October Quiz Night saw a radical change of format, which initially caused some concern amongst our more traditional quiz enthusiasts. However, a lively evening of blindfolded painting, paper-clip tossing and Taskmaster-inspired challenges proved a great success. Congratulations to our victorious Year 7 table, whose triumph remains entirely undisputed, despite ongoing debate surrounding a certain push-up challenge.
Winter brought the creative and festive joy of wreath-making. Accompanied by a full PTA bar service, parents enjoyed a memorable evening and produced some truly beautiful wreaths that adorned homes across the local area throughout the Christmas season.
Continuing our theme of trying new things, the traditional Spring Ball was transformed into an Eighties Party. Fancy dress may have been optional, but many embraced the challenge with remarkable enthusiasm. A fantastic live band, excellent food and a packed dance floor ensured a memorable evening. My thanks go
to Alison Inder-Reiden and her team for organising such a successful event and transporting us all back to the decade of questionable fashion choices and outstanding music.
Unfortunately, an increasingly crowded summer calendar meant that we were unable to host our Outdoor Cinema this year. Our thanks go to Yana for her e�orts in trying to make the event happen. On this occasion, the dark side prevailed, but we fully intend to return next year with renewed determination and, hopefully, an impenetrable diary.
The achievements of the PTA would not be possible without the enthusiasm, generosity and support of our volunteers. Through fundraising, community events and practical support for school activities, the PTA continues to contribute positively to the wider Halliford experience for students, families and sta� alike.

## **Treasurer’s Report for year ending August 2024**
This year the PTA has had a busy and successful year.
We’ve run the bar and snacks service, at various school events, managed preloved Uniform sales and hosted a few special events including the year 7 Fun Day, Quiz night, Wreathmaking, and a fabulous Spring Pary.
The Opening Balance on 1 September 2023 was £ 84,108.29.
The total income for the 2023-2024 financial year was £33,629.67, up from £23,412.38 last financial year. The primary sources of Income were from PTA Event ticket sales (£5,968.44), Drinks and Snacks sales (£ 8,660.15), and Halliford PTA Subscriptions (£ 6,645.00). We also received Gift Aid Credit from HMRC (£6,389.55).
The main expenses were related to Funding items for the school (£68,179.34 including new Theatre Seating), Stock of Drinks and Snacks (£4,938.97), and the Summer Party (£5,875.96). Note that this financial year includes payments from previous years expenses, which got paid this year, due to late invoicing. We have worked with Suppliers to avoid this happening in the 2024-2025 year.
The cash in the PTA bank account on 31 August 2024, was £24,716.08, putting us in a good financial position to further support the school, and to host events.
In the next financial year, we expect to pay for a Catering Fridge to cool the PTA Drinks, which will reduce the time and effort needed before events.
