Section D
Achievements and performance
Summary ofthe maln
achievements of thè charity
durlng the year
The 89th could not deliver quality Scouting io so many young people
every week rf it wasn't for the dedication of our Leadership team Ythich
has a wide range of ages and experience.
Our thanks go to them for their stalwart efforts though lockdown and
getting restarted so smoothly without any losses, indeed we have 51arted
back with the same numbers as before lockdown
The Sections could not operate wilhoul the support of the Executive
Team ensuring the financial security of the Group, providing
adminislrative support and assessing risk and ensLJring the safety of our
young people and adults. The Volunteers appointed last year have
consolidated their appoinled roles and have achieved a smooth and
financially secure operation
Our new treasurer Bill Foster has taken over the role and established a
more professional approach to our accourrts making il cfearer how the
organisation is fundioning and demonstrating our aims relating to budget
Last but not least V￿ could not deliver the Scouting we do without our
amazing facilities. The excellent efforts and dedication of John Potter and
his 'BranGhing Up, team of adults with leaming difficulties, who provide
our cleaning and Maintenan￿ services Iwice a week, are demonstrated
by Ihe'Good as New" appearance ofthe site
We have invested in additional facilities on the site with the new 'Grylls
Adventure Course" and substantially improved the" Bear Course"
The Climbing wall is now able lo offer bouldering with a new soft safety
surfa￿.
The Group has also contributed to local amenities by the purchase of a
public defibrillator outside the main entrance to the srte. This was funded
by our resumption of our Christmas Post (£893)
