We follow a play-based curriculum where children have the opportuntyto develop personally, socially and emotionally. We Supply education regardin8 the Early Years Foundation Stage and Every Child Matters in preparation for school and beyond. We aim for parents, committee and staff to work together for the benefit of the children in our care and their familie5. We pride ourselves on our warm and nurturing environment which 8Nes a great start to chlldren from all walks of life as they ultimately move on to school. When planning our actlvlties for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. This included holdin8 fundraising events, not just for the chlldren and families of Playgroup, but also participating in events such as Children in Need. Achlevements and performance of the maln achlevements of the char Summa durln ear. Thls year the commlttee has focused on tryln8 to keep the outgolng cost for playgroup lower as well as trying to avoid asking too much from the parents in terms of money which ha5 been a hard balance. Ensuring the parents know what the money is being raised for was a good way to encourage them to donate where possible. The rise in 8ovemment Grant funding helped to be able to manage some of the rise in National livin8 wa8e, but not all. Ottober. the start of the year was started with the toddle waddle, organi5ed by Jane and the staff. The children were sponsored to locate a variety of images around the field, the children very much enjoyed the event. A photO8rapher came to playgroup within the term and each child had photos taken. At Christmas. the committee arranged a Christmas festivities evening at playgroup with stalls inside for the children to take part in activities at a small cost, the committee used resources Pa8e2of4 already purchased from previous years in an attempt to keep the costs low. Hot chocolate and cakes could also be purchased and taken outside to the bonfire and sing songs. For Motherfs day, organised gifts of glass jars. decorated by the children's finger prints and filled with a tealight for their loved ones and Fatherfs Day gifts were organised by the staff at play8roup. We also did a fill a bag event whereby each child would be sponsored to bring in thelr ba8 filled with the colour they were given. The children then got to do a show and tell in playgroup. There were lots of creative interesting objetts that were bou8ht in. The Summerterm events included group photo. a farm trip to Popham airfield for the Oak children. We managed to use a local council funded coach company to keep the costs down. It has been yet another extremely hard yearfor the playgroup financially and we were presented with uplifted rental costs from Abercom Trust. A decision was made to flnd new premises which took a lot of hard work from the Committee and Staff. Flnance revlew Brief statement of the Charl on reserves. As at 31, Au8USt 2025 we hold cash at bank and in hand of £52.311. £42.161 of these funds are held in a separate account for emergencies. to cover approximately three months of running costs plus staff salaries or redundancies if required in the event of an emer8enry closure. There is a cash sum of £311 awaiting payment into our bank, however our closest branches have been closed which sometimes causes timin8 issues gettin8 money into the bank. The preschool recelves government grant fundlng every month (free chlldcare entltlementsl. and so the remaining balance of £9,839 is needed to cover the running costs for the periods in between grant funding payments. The profit for the year 2024-2025 was £1.106 which is essentially a carrled forward Restricted Funds balance to be used in the outside space, as donated bv the Fleet Lions. This is being used against the cost of new fencing in Playgroup's new premises in 2025-2026. The Trustees have looked at the accounts and are happy that there are sufficient funds to meet the liabilities as they fall due.
