There is now a regular sOnd jama'at being offered for Friday prayers. 2) Made arrangements for Ramadhan, i.e. T&raWl) prayers, lftaar, Iktikaf, etc. Our l(Kal Madrassa students also led part of the Taroweeh prayers, and we had 5 tEople sittt'ng in IktikAf this year. 3) DiStrited donations of £44,972 (2013.. E43,6021 to the wor and needy aThJ to other insb"tutions with similar ci)jectives. 41 Organised Quran wding and Islamic knowledge classe5 for children. Imam made hirnself available to teach adults. 5) Visited the sick at their homes and in hospltals. 6) Perfomed marriage ceremonies and provided marriagE arKI divorce counseling. 7) Perfomed funeral services i.e. washing, burial and prayers, aThJ comforted the bereaved. Burials are now regularly tsking place withiii 24 hours of the d&reased passing away. Several other significant events also took pla during the year, ès follows.. l. The d)ildren s Madr85sa continues to flThJrish under the d&icated leadership of Imam Idris Nawab with the help of the teachers and several volunteers. A total of 177 {2023.' 160> children are now on the Madras5a register and an average of 13012023.. 1201 regulady attend. There has b*n a surge in new admissions in septeMr 2024. Around 20 new pupils have been enrolled. Enrolment now takes place on-liiie and the Ma51id has employed a dedicated person to deal with the administrab'on. Br Mounir Guidhaoui resigned In May 2024 after Ing with us for over 4 years. Ive wish him all the tkst for the future and we thank him for his excellent w(Yk. Moulanè PEihan W¢75 employed as Br Mounir s replacement in July 2024. Worthing Masjid will continue to recruit teachers and volunteers to meet its growing needs. In addition to the daily Quran and Islamic. Study dasses, the following events tts)k place: a. Imam tested all of the chIldn before Ramadhan aThJ then contarted parents of the children who he has concem5 about in terms ol their academic tryress. b. Throughout the year, we welcomed various local communitllreligious groups, schcrf)Is, scoutslcubs and other groups to the Masjia. The Imam also visit1 local sch(K)Is to give talks on Islam. 6. A key fob and door enty Prff&U is kept in operation, thereby improving MasJ¢d security whilst at the same time allowing freer use of the Masjid f¢JCilibes. 8. Muslim Cemetery After several years of discussion with the bereavement department of Worthing Borough Council, the Masjid managed to secure a new bLirial site at Worthing Cemetery for an addib(y)al 150 graves. Worthing Masjid is confident that this will pmvide for our burial n&5 for many years to come. 9. Visit My Mosque Day We participated in the Vislt My Mosque Day which is a national campaign facilitat by the Muslim Council of Britain IMCBI. Worthing Masjid dcors were open to the public from 10.00am to 5.00pm on Sunday 29 September 2024. 'e liad over 60 non-muslim visitors who were able to witness the daily life inside a mosque. They liad the opportunity to ask questions and chat with the Imam and other local Muslims. Refreshments and snacks were available. It was an Informal event in an atmosphere of friendship and go(Klwill. Eac.h guest was given a gift to take home. The feedtyack we received was entirely positivp. 10. Remembering Srebrenica On July 11, 2024, our Masjid organized the "R•rnembering Srebrenica" event at Worthing Town Hall, commemorating the victims of the Srebrenica genocide. The event was attended by ¢y)liticians, religious leaders, and members of ihe general public. all coming together to FK)nor the lives lost and reflert on the Importan of promoting toleran and understarKJing in (Mjr society. Through speeches, educational discussions, and a moment of silence, attendees were refflinded of the devastats'ng impact of hatred and the i)eSsity to advocate for human rights. Masjid Development Since the last Annual General Meets'ng (AGMI, we hève been attively pursuing plans for the extension of our current Masjid premises (Proiecl A). We submitted the pre-planning application to the local planning authority. Idlso SLib5equeiitlw had several discussions with planning officers and memters of the council planning committee. Our architect gave a wwer int presentation of our plan and intention. The counal planning committee membets expressed aithltsiasm for the overall conpt ar empl)asised the importance of creating a Vlsuciliy dppeciliiig d1g[l that fits well within the WorthiThJ community. They advised that a few minor chènges slould be made for the plan to be approved by them. They also encouraged LIS lo epgaqe w,.Ih oiir neightK)rs lo mitigate any concems that may arise regarding the e4tensii)ri as they and rhe wider public will have a say in the approval of the plan when the full application is 5LJbnitted ènd considered. Alhamdulillah, we are now in the tK)sition to submit our full plan very scx)n, which includes a O-story extension to the exisb'ng mosque building. We believe this will not only enhance our faalities ixjt also better serve our community's needs. To make a full applicab.on we are required to do (a) A Travel plan to be prepared by a transtX)rt consultant. (b> A Planning ststement to be prepared by a planning consultant,. and Ic) A Community consultation , which we have done with the vislt my niosque event. We are awaiting the other two reports lthire submitting our full application. In parallel. we have also bn exploring the possibility of acquiring new land to the west of Worthing for a stsndalone mosque {ProJect Bl. We have appointed an estate agent to assist us in Ic(ating suitable commercial property and Idiid. However, we have yet to receive any promising leads from agent regarding potential sites. We are also In ongoing discussions with the county council about the possibility of securing land In the area, but we have iiot received a p)sitive respSe thus far. Our commitment to finding the best solution for our community remain5 strong as we navig(Ite these challenges. On Friday I" November 2024 a group of members {committee and ordiiiaryl hold a nieeting with Dr. Beccy Cooper MP who at the meeting expressed her intention to work logetlier lo support us in flnding a solutlon as soon as possible. The S(Kiety therefore had surplus of free reserve5 at 31 March 2024 of £131,222 (2023.. £108,281), mainly represented by Cash at bank and in-haTh*anddebtors and prepayments. The TNstees have èetermined that the priorities for the coming year are: To remain at the forefront in the provision of Islamic 8JurAtion in Worthing and the surrounding areas. b. To continue providing SUPFX)rt to the Ic(ol Muslirn community and related Islamic organizations. c. To continue the wopagation of Islamic Awareness to the Non-muslim community of Worthing and the sumunding areas.
