## **Annual Report for 2022**

The Trustees met on four occasions during the year. At each meeting the Trustees scrutinise the accounts presented by the Treasurer.

The Charity has ceased actively fundraising but is still receiving small donations from individual supporters. It remains available for Church-based groups to raise funds for Charities that fit the criteria of the Charity. No such groups have been serviced during the year.

A donation of £3,000 was made to the United Nepal Mission for which a member of one of LOAF Project’s supporting churches works as a physiotherapist. Detailed costings were received to support three of her patients enabling them to set up small businesses to support their families. Progress reports were received at subsequent meetings.

A sum of £38,986.12 was offered to LOAF Project from the family of a deceased long-time supporter. This sum derived from this legacy.

Before acceptance the Trustees carried out an investigation of the credentials of the firm of Solicitors acting for the family of the deceased and the validity of the legacy referred to in their letter. Receiving satisfactory bona fides the Trustees worked with the family of the legator to suggest charities to which the funds could be devoted in his memory.

Two charities were selected from a shortlist of those with which LOAF Project had worked on several previous occasions and were personally known to the Trustees. As a result, the Trustees sought costed schemes from a charity in Pakistan and another working in Rwanda. Two people-carriers were purchased for a school for severely handicapped children and young people in Islamabad and two additional classrooms were built at a Secondary school in Rwanda. Grants of £18,000 were made in each case. We have since received regular progress reports and photographic evidence for the use of the funds as planned.

LOAF Project organises monthly walks and advertises them to the churches of Hastings. Walkers are invited to make donations.

Finally, annually, LOAF Project provides a fellowship and information sharing lunch to which leaders of all the churches in Hastings are invited. The cost of these lunches is born personally by the Trustees and is at no charge to the Charity itself. The event in 2022 was held in July in the garden of the Chair of Trustees.
