Structure, Governance and Management
The group is constituted as an unincorporated association and is govemed by the Royal
Charter of the Scout Association, originalty dated 4° January 1912.
The Trustee Board meets quarterfy. or more often as wuired. The day to day operation of
the Group is undertaken by volunteers led by the Group Lead Volunteer.
The Group manages its own premises, and the Trustee Board contlnues to ensure that the
building is rrt for purpose.
Trustees are 8ppointed by the Scout Councll at an Annual General Meeting following an
open selection proces$ or. exceptionally. nomination. Trustees may also b8 Co-opted onto
the Board if parbGular skills or knowledge are required.

Objectives and Activities
224th North London Scout Group operates to promote the development of young people in
achieving their fijll physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as
responsible citizens and as members of their local, nalional and intemalional o)mmunities.
The main activitie$ of the Group are regular meetings for young people as Scouts, Cubs or
Beavers together with occasional outside activities.
The tfustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Chartty CommiSs￿n on public
benefft.
No funds are held as custodian trustees on behalf of others.
Achievements and Performance
The activities and evenls described below provided the Scouts wlth a diverse range of
experiences, fostering skills, teamwod(, and a sense of adventure. Each tenn was filled with
opportunities for growth. learning, and fvn, ensuring that the ScoLts had a memorable and
enrithlng year.
Spring 2023: Spring 2023 was a vibrant temi filled with diverse activllles that kept our
Scout5 engaged and leaming. We kicked off wilh creative crafts, followed by exciting scuba
diving sessions. The S[￿ts honed their fire safety skills and embraced the energelic
Capoeira. Pancake cooking brought a delicious twist, while the Jamboree and pioneerfng
activitieg fostered teamwork and resilience. The temi culrninated with thrilling g￿kartIng and
laser tag adventures, leaving our Scouts inspired and eager for more.
Summer 2023: Summer 2023 was a se8$on of exploration and ouldoor fun. Our Scouts
soared with indoor skydiving and parascendirsg, and showcased Iheir football skills in the
District 5-a-side tournament. They delved into local knowledge and celebrated the
Coronation. The East Finchley Festival saw them contributing to the community with litt6r
picking. Th6 lemi wrapped up with essential camping skills. archery, and air rffle sessions.
preparing them for the exciting ThrIf￿00d Camp. The AGM and BBQ brought everyone
together, celebrating a tem of achievements.
Autumn 2023: Autumn 2023 was a term of discovery and creativity. The Scouts returned
with a back-tTrbasics session, followed by engaging activities like Water￿d Pfojecis and air
activities. They tackled the Skills Challenge Awdrd and explored graffrti art with the 'lnner
Banksy. session. The temi also included a fascinating visit to Highgate Museum and a nighl
hike. The Scouts ended the temi with teslive Christmas games and treats. refl8cting on a
year of growth and c8maraderte.
This year has been a testament lo the Scouts. enthusiasm. resilience, and communty spirit.

Financial Review
Summary of Scouting and Support Activities
Scouting actiwties have continued to recover from the impact of Covid-19 and have attained
pre-pandemi¢ levels wf(h o)sts and contributions well-balanced. The level of subscriptions
has risen and ￿mfOrtablY exceeds the contribution to the Scout District.
Non-s￿Uting activities generated a surplus of £451 after recognising the costs of
refurbishing the kltchen in D￿mber 2022.
The combined balance of the Group's current a¢￿Unt and ground rent reserve account at
year end stood at £44,027, an increase of £4,067 over the year.
Incoma
The main income sources w8re subscriptions and contributions to actmties from cubs,
beavers and scouts. as well as contributions from Ladybird Montessori and others who use
the Scout Hut and facilities for Iheir activities. Subs and activity contributions amounted to
£19.190 and contributions from Ihe other users were £14,105.
Expenditure
The Group spent £15,574 on scouling activities induding Scout Dlstrict membership fees of
£2,959. Expenditure to support the Group was £13.749. which induded insurance costs of
£1.598. Costs of £7,421 to refurbish the kitchen were incurred in December 2022 and are
included in these Accounts.
Assets & Liabilftie$
The accounts show that we began the year wth a current account balance of £32.934 and
ended with a balance of £36.927. Thi$ reserve. which is broadly in line with annual
expenditure, is maintained in order to provide flexsbility to cater for unexpected fluctuations in
the income or expenditure of the Group. The savings ac(x>unt held with the intention of
providing a ground rent reserve had openlng and dosing balances of £7,026 and £7,100
respectively; the increase arose from interest received ov8r the year.
Insurance is in Pla￿ to cover the Scout Hut buildings and contents relating lo SCou￿ng
activities. The Group had no outstanding liabilities at year end, other than the outcome of
the ground rent settlement wilh London Borough of Haringey.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the 224th North London Scout
Group for the year ended 31 December 2023.
Responslbllltles and Basi5 of Report
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts
in accordance with the requirements of the Charitie5 Art 20111.the ACYI.
I report in respect of my examination of the Trusys accounts carried out under section 145
of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination l_have followed the applicable Directions
given by the Charity Commission under section 145151{b} of the Act.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my
attention in connection with the examination which give me cause to believe that in any
material respect..
