## Aims and Organisation 

These remain unchanged. The Charity was established for the advancement of education by means of promoting research in archaeology, ancient and classical sculpture, monuments and artifacts, archaeological investigation, exploration and excavation – particularly at Aphrodisias and elsewhere in the world – including the dissemination of all information, discoveries and results relating thereto or arising thereon, to the general public in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, through publications, lectures, restoration of ancient marbles and provision of sculpture casts. 

## Activity during 2024 

Thanks to generous donations from its members the Trust was able to donate £15,000 towards the archaeological work at Aphrodisias. 2024 saw an outstanding summer season at Aphrodisias. A colossal high quality marble head of Zeus was found near the temple of Aphrodite in mid July. This is a find of the highest quality and importance. The head has already attracted widespread interest on social media and in the international press, following the Turkish minister of culture and tourism’s media launch. Meanwhile progress was made at the House of Kybele (where a small seated statue of Aphrodite was discovered) and at the North Temenos House, the details of which can be found in November’s newsletter. 

As part of its educational activity the Trust organised its annual lecture on research and discoveries at Aphrodisias during the previous year which was given by Professor Bert Smith at the Art Workers’ Guild on 5[th] March 2024. On Tuesday 8[th] October a small and very fortunate group of Friends were treated to a wonderful circuit of the walls of the Roman town of Calleva Atrebatum, just to the east of the village of Silchester. Calleva Atrebatum is a settlement contemporary with Aphrodisias. Our guide to walking the site on that beautiful October day was its brilliant longtime excavation director, Prof. Mike Fulford. 

The Charity is administered on a day to day basis by its Trustees, with the assistance of volunteers. 

The Charity has no employees.
