THE LPSOL TRUSTEES AND MANAGEMENT COMMITTEES PRESENT THEIR ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2020

Objects of the Charity

The objectives of the Trust are the advancement of the Hindu religion in particular amongst the Hindu community in London, originating from Surat, Navsari and Valsad areas of India , the relief of poverty and sickness amongst the Leuva Patidar community, the advancement of education amongst children and adults of the Leuva Patidar community and the provision of recreational and leisure facilities amongst members of that community. Constitution

The Trust was established under a Deed of Trust dated 10" February 1986. The charity number is 293056.

Review of Activities

During the year we were only able to hold one of the normal calendar of charitable, religious and social in-person functions, due to the pandemic. The rest of the functions and activities were adapted and held online or via emails. Navratri and Diwali (Annual festivals) and Wellbeing, Pilates and Zumba events were via zoom. The Missing persons Charity Dinner and Dance was held just before the first lockdown. The year ended with a surplus as many of the events that cost more than they generate (eg Navratri) were curtailed or cancelled by Covid.

The Management Committee continued to keep in touch with all members via a combination of social media methods and Newsletters and we sadly had to support remotely, various families as they lost loved ones due to Covid funeral restrictions. Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trustees & Management Committees to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year

In preparing accounts giving a true and fair view, the Trustees & Management Committees should follow practice and:

• ¢ Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

• e Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; e State whether applicable accounting standards and statements of recommended practice have been followed, subject to any departures disclosed and explained in the accounts;

• ¢ Prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will not continue in operation.

The Trustees & Management are responsible for keeping accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy the financial position of the charity and which enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the applicable law. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Leuva Patidar Samaj (SNV) of London (Charity Registration Number 293056)

| report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 December 2020. This report is conducted on a voluntary basis as a lifetime member and supporter of the charity. No professional fees are charged for the service.

Respective Responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

• e Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act; e Follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

• e Tostate whether any particular matters have come to my attention

Basis of Independent Examiner’s Report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

Which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respects the requirements:

• e¢ Tokeep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and e To prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act

Note 1 Accounting Policies

The receipts and payments accounts have been drawn up as a summary of the receipts and payments made during the year by the charity. Amounts are recorded as received by the charity or as payments are made during the year. The receipts and payments accounts and statements of assets and liabilities have been prepared following the guidance for accounting for smaller charities issued by the Charity Commission.

Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less depreciation. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost less estimated residual value of each asset over its expected useful life.

Note 6 Events Information

The Dinner and dance was the only in-person event for the year and it generated £1,338 for the charity we supported this year and a surplus for LPSOL of £2,900.

All monies raised during our virtual Navratri season via Zoom (£2,316) has been set aside for supporting the vulnerable in the LPS’ origins area of South Gujarat (SNV).

All online and in-person events generated a surplus thanks to corporate and anonymous sponsorship/donations.

Other restricted income and similar online activities during 2020, Gift Aid, Interest income and core operational costs make up the rest of the overall surplus of the year (£7,547).
