ObjectivesandaimsTheCancerTreatmentandResearchTrust(CTRT)whichwasfoundedin 1985,
supportsworkmainlyin the departmentsof medicaloncologyat the WestLondonCancerCentrebased at
CharingCrossHospitalandin thedepartmentofmedicaloncologyat theMountVernonCancerCentre, in
Northwood,Middlesex.TheCTRTexiststosupporttreatmentandresearchintomanyformsof malignant
diseaseandhasbeenparticularlyinvolvedinunderstandinghowcertaincancersdevelop,finding better
waystomonitorthemanddevelopingnewanti-canceragents.Itremainscommittedtofunding research
thatisnotadequatelyfundedeitherbythemajorcancercharities,theMRCorthe pharmaceutical
industry.

being to assist people suffering from cancer.

ThetrusteesarepleasedwiththeachievementsandperformanceoftheTrustin2020despite the
difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic.

TheCTRTin2020fundedpartofthelaboratoryrunningexpensesforseveralPhDand post-doctoral
researchers at Charing Cross/Hammersmith Hospitals.
```

In 2020atMountVernonCancerCentre,theCTRThasbeenfundingthesalaryofa clinicaltrialsofficer, a
clinicaltrialsassistantaswellasaPhDresearchfellow,partofthesalariesofascientificofficer, PhD
student and the expenses (bench and tuition fees) of a clinical research fellow doing a PhD.
```

## **`FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial position Income level in 2020`**

TheCOVIDpandemicsignificantlyaffectedthelevelofunrestricteddonations,themainsourceof income
for the Trust,with far feweropportunitiesfor interactionwith the relevantpublic.Closureof hospitals and
fewerinteractionswiththepatientshasalsolimitedopportunitiesforfundraising.However,CTRThas a
sufficientamountoffinancialreservesallowingtheTrusttocontinueresearchandcomplywiththe policy
to hold funds amounting to at least 18 months' salary for those who is funded by the CTRT.
```

In 2020CTRThas supporteda researchsalarybill of £90,621and another£65,580of runningexpenses and
lab fees.
```

## **`Reserves policy`**

Sufficientreservesare maintainedto ensurethat all expenses,as well as futureresearchcosts,are  covered
in the event no donations are received in any one year.

For many years the CTRT receivedfunds to pay for researchstaff running clinicaltrials from pharmaceutical
companiesand trialorganisations.IncreasinglythesefundshavebeenpaiddirectlytothelocalNHS Trusts
whoemploythesestaff.As of 1stJanuary2008the accountsrelatedto MountVernonCancerCentre only
include income and expenses actually paid into or out of CTRT accounts.

Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) using one of the models recommended.

The CTRT updatedand approveda coupleof essentialpolicies.A smallgroup of CTRT volunteershave  been
identified.They are being veryhelpfulin the developmentof socialmediapresence.It is envisagedthat we
willcontinuetoexpandthisgroupandexploreexpandingcurrentandimplementingnew fundraising
initiatives in the next year.

laboratoryfocusedondevelopingnovelbiomarkersandcancertreatmentsemployingthe latest
technologies.Immunotherapycontinuestobeamajorareaofinterestinthecancerworldand CTRT
continuestosupportleadingresearchstudyingtheeffectsofImmunotherapyintrophoblastic,lung and
renal cancers.

CTRT will be taken by Professor Marcia Hall, this will be ratified this year.

We have welcomed Mr Russell Hallam, Partner IBB Law, Uxbridge as a new trustee.

onto a XERO platform to allow reconciliations into a single bank account.
