are to:
Hold an Annual Service for Seafarers in St. Paul's Cathedral.
Encourage pupils at Reddam House Berkshire (previously Bearwood College), Pangbourne
College, The Royal Hospital School Ipswich, The Royal School and the London Nautical
School to become involved with maritime affairs by performing al the Service.
Contribute to the upkeep of St. Paul's Cathedral.
In 2023, Reddam House Berkshire decided that they no longer wished to take part in the Service.
2. Trustees are currently appointed for a maximum of 2 x five-year terms with the Chairman being
appointed from within the body of Trustees for a three-year term. New Trustees are normally
selected from those organisations who directly support the ANSS. However, in view of the Charity
Commission's guidelines on Trustee Recruitsnent. Trustees will be updaling the current process in
2025 with a view to bringing it more in line with those guidelines.
3. The administration of the ANSS is carried out by the Executive Department of The Seafarers.
Charity, assisted by Trinity House. Their annual charges are reflecied in the accounts.
4. During the year to 31 December 2024, the Charity held rts annual service in St Paul's on
Wednesday 9 October. The Preacher was The Venerable Robert Townsend, Archdeacon of
Meirionnydd, and the congregation was estimated to be around 2000.
5. The payment to St, Paul's amounted to £11.281 of which £3,726 was offset by the collection.
6. The Charity relies totally on donations to cover the costs of the Service and its reseNes
currently stand at just over £63k. However. the difference between income and expenditure
indicates that the Charity will continue to use about £15k of its reserves annually to fund the
Service. In view of this, the Trustees have agreed that reseNes equating to 34 years of
expenditure should nomially be held and that this policy would be reviewed annually. Trustees
have also implemented more proactive fundraising. which is already bearing fruit.
7. The Service in 2025 will take place at 1700 on Wednesday 8 October.
