Constitution and Objetts
The Walton-on.Thames CommunAty T￿￿t (WOTCAD is CO￿$tituted under a Trust
Deed dated 20 June 1985 and is a rewterol ¢haTity. number 292178. The obj¢d of the
trust is to advance the education of the public. particuhrly amongst the inhabitants of
Walton on Thames and the surTouDJing localities in arts and crafts of all descriptions. In
fillthrnce of this obiecL th¢ tr￿ are stttifically emFx)wered to establish and
studios, exhibition halls, assembly rix)ms and workshop& to 8rrange the production,

2024 saw the impact of the COVID Pandernic significantly reduced and progrAn￿g at
lilvert￿l￿e wnllnued to develop with audie￿ growing to rnatslL We also developed
plans to refi]rbish the Cafe Bar ar¢a following the decision by Elmbridge Borough
Council to fi￿d the J)]ajorÈty of tbe WO￿ with a grant of £88,000 uoder their CIL (
sucKssfiA. A fair amount of lin￿ and effort was also s￿llt on looking at how we might
recruit some yO￿¢r people to becon)e Trustees of WOTCAT or Di￿OrS of RI￿erhO￿se
Barn Limitrd but so far without SUCC￿$. Forturotely. w¢ Contin￿ to have strong support
from ElmbTidge Borough Council and the R C Shettiff Tnjst who valu¢ the venu¢ and its
spread of activities which have widened to include a day long event on-Green" issue5
and a'Thraine" day. Wc l(K)k forward to developing thes¢ themes in ￿at is left of 2005

The Tn)st's rnain a&%et is its lease1￿Id interest in th¢ knd and buildings known &8
RiVer1￿￿e Barn in Manor Roa￿ Walton-0TrThan￿s. This is an 18 century tithe b
whose freehold is owned by Elmbridge Borough Council. In 1985 the CouncAI agreed
to lease the land and buildings to the TnLSt at a peppercorn rent condition that the
TnLSt renovated the derelict building and converted it to community arts use. This work
was canied out kgely by voluntary ]atM)ur under professional supervision at￿ the
Rlv¢rho￿e Barn oprned for artistic I￿rfOnTh2nc￿ in SeptemlEr 1989. Builthng-
related expenditure {i.e. excluding voluntary ￿￿r) for the renov2tion and conversion
over the four years came to approximat¢ly £li4,000. In 199516 a new Craft Studio
building was added on at the ￿ of RiVerh0￿ Banu at a cost ofjust over £125,000.

£9369.45) wbich were acquiffd during 2(KY7 and th¢y bave been fully depreciated to a
nil value in acconkn with this wlicy.
