In 1985 the CouncAI agreed to lease the land and buildings to the TnLSt at a peppercorn rent condition that the TnLSt renovated the derelict building and converted it to community arts use. This work was canied out kgely by voluntary ]atM)ur under professional supervision at￿ the Rlv¢rho￿e Barn oprned for artistic I￿rfOnTh2nc￿ in SeptemlEr 1989. Builthng- related expenditure {i.e. excluding voluntary ￿￿r) for the renov2tion and conversion over the four years came to approximat¢ly £li4,000. In 199516 a new Craft Studio building was added on at the ￿ of RiVerh0￿ Banu at a cost ofjust over £125,000. excluding equipmenL In 1998. a lease w&s executed by EhnbTidge Borough Council over the Riverhouse Barn land and buildings in favovr of the TnLSt for a Fcriod of 50 yea[5 from 1° F¢bruary I W6.
