The focus of our activities continues to be the provision of Scouting for boys and girls from 6 years to 14 years (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts). Activities are run in accordance with The Scout Association policies and guidance to engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Without their valuable contribution of time and energy we would not have been able to achieve so much. You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. 3 Section D Achievements and performance **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** ## Explorers The unit has enjoyed regular attendance from its members of which there have been 18 in the year. The leaders encourage members to take it in turns to plan and run the evenings themselves, to support their personal development. The unit has been camping at the Larch Hill International Scout campsite in Dublin, punting, cooking and hiking. ## Scouts The troop has welcomed more than 35 Scouts in the period. There have been 4 Scout camps including a 7[th] Royston group camp in Spring at Thriftwood, a week long summer camp to Dorset, Autumn camp at Paccar and a wet finish along the Norfolk coast with a 26k hike and overnight in March. Some of the other highlights included indoor and outdoor climbing , work for their conservation badge and an introduction to the hills. ## Cubs The pack has over 30 Cubs, with more on the waiting list. Activities have included camps with multiple activities (including canoeing, campfire cooking and archery), night hikes, learning to tie knots and build campfires plus a visit to the local RSPB Centre. Badges that have been awarded to the pack during the year include gardening, cooking, pioneering and the world badge, which looked at the Far East in line with the international Scout Jamboree. ## Beavers The colony has 26 Beavers, with an ever-growing waiting list. We have a strong leadership team who are helped by some of our Young Leaders. ## Highlights from the year include: - Games, fire building and pet week - The spring and autumn camps - Badge work including first aid, camp craft & personal challenges ## Fundraising Fundraising to purchase equipment and top up member subscriptions has continued but the main focus of the fundraising effort continues to be on activity to raise the money required to replace the Scout Hut. The group has raised another £3,256 in the financial year for this purpose, taking the Scout Hut fund to £23,515 at year end. The Trustees expect to obtain planning permission for the new hut design in 2024 after which time fundraising efforts will be ramped up. 4 ## **Section E Financial review** We hold cash at the bank at year end of £43,319 of which £23,515 are **Brief statement of the charity’s** restricted funds raised to replace the Scout Hut and £694 are restricted **policy on reserves** funds raised to enable the charity to provide financial support to any members who can’t meet the cost of extra activities.
