Chair's Report for North P•th•rton Community Centre Annual General Meeting 26th April 2023 l attended last year's AGM and was impressed with the aspiratB)ns for the North Petherton Communty Centre's INPCCI committee and was interested in joining the established group to contribute to progressing the commrttee's ambrtions and future plans. This led lo me becoming a Trustee and then later in the Autumn. bMil¥j the Chair of the Committee. Here is my report as Chair on our aChievnenls and chaldeS Sin the LgSt AGM in 2022 First and forem081,1 wsh to say thank you to Jenny Manners. Jean Tumer and Louise Dennis who were Acting Chair5 for a svJnrficant period of before I was apPoted the Chair of the NPCC Committee. The NPCC Committee is an effective committee with a robust team-approach amongst its members. The footpath outsxle Ihe library has been re surfaced for smooth acLess with new, automated doors Installed at the entrance lo the library (Small Hall) and the C(xnmunty Centre (Main Hall). We appreciate the drive and effort8 of Brian Tumer for his lead on both these structural impfovements. . Following a proposal from one of the Trustees lo eslatAish NPCC fikn nwJhls. a working group was established lo robustly research the proposal. The eventual OUtme was approval by the committee lo proceed with this intti'alNe and we are timiStiC that regular film nights at NPCC will be a success. . The COMMee,5 working relationship wrth the Library and Conr1 hgs been slrenglhened and we will contsnue to maintain this posié)n. . We have had two Positive meetings wrth represenlalives Irc the North Petherton Town Council, which enables positive d1VJue lo take place work in partnership to anlicipale any emerging issues which be resofved swtftty and effectivety. . With thanks lo Andy Jennings, expertise and skills, the Centre has a revised and updated information technokngy, Wzd system for drse twkings for activitie5 in the Communty Cenl¥e. . A caretaker has been appointed for the Centre whose ccffimthnt and reliabilty ensures all actiwties are rnaed well and in a timety manner. . l am pleased to see that we have regular and te representation from users of the Communty Centre at commthee meetings. This proMdes us with cx)nstwctive feedback on how to improve the facilty and lo capture their views on our Strateg direct1n. We welcome this engagement. . Our Commrttee Secretary has started a process of revpwing, refreshirvJ. and ulatIng all currenl policy documents for the Community Centre. This wll enable them to be easily accessible. wrth dear. easy to ready guKlarvx. Our main chaInge has been. and continues to be, to make every effort to ensure there is balance between managing the Centre's finan(ts so that our IrMe is heatthy. while remaining responswe to the needs ofthe Iccal communrty of North Petherton.
