||During<br>my examination<br>ofthe Accounts ofWLIC,<br>I noticed that the Charity|had|
||set up merchant<br>account facilities to enable collection ofdonations,<br>from||
||worshippers,<br>using credit and debit cards.||
||These accounts were set-up,<br>in a hasty manner,<br>without<br>knowledge<br>ofthe||
||board ofTrustees,<br>which caused me some concern prompting<br>me to assess the||
||various areas ofrisks that could have arisen.||
||A meeting<br>with the Trustees was convened<br>immediately<br>to assess exposure to||
||risks of potential<br>fraud and money laundering.<br>The Trustees conducted<br>their||
||own review ofthe card collection accounts,<br>reconciling<br>transfers<br>into the||
||Charity's<br>current account, from the merchant<br>accounts, thus confirming<br>that all||
||funds have been properly accounted for. As a result ofour review, passwords||
||and logins have been changed<br>by the General Secretary to be entrusted<br>to||
||responsible<br>individuals.<br>I advised that the card facility accounts are to be||
||accessed at least once a month<br>with a view to print statements.||
